Warship Conversions
« on: 24 May 2018, 17:38:15 »
I was looking at the Warship construction rules with the idea of coming up with some variants of various canon designs.  While I know that answer from a rules perspective, it got me wondering what a perspective might be like from an  "in universe" perspective might be.  As an example, would a conversion of a Kyushu or a Nightlord from a Mech carrier to an aerospace carrier (just by swapping the cubicles) be as simple as it seems?  Seems like an effective way to get a carrier for little effort.  Thoughts?

If you're just swapping cubicles, then it shouldn't be too horrific. I even suggested that in the Force Creation rules of IntOps to give an example force the DropShip they needed.

Of course, just swapping cubicles might not produce a good 'Mech bay. Some 'Mech carriers have pretty elaborate interior hangars for their 'Mechs, which aren't ideally laid out for fighters. But the "simple" act of switching out thousands of tons of modular machinery for other modular machinery shouldn't be too bad.
