Omni Refit clarifications
« on: 07 January 2024, 18:28:38 »
Using the Campaign Operations (2021 with errata 4.0) refit rules there is ambiguity on a few points causing contention that I would like to clear up.

p212
Under Factory Refits:
"Class F: Adding a new turret. Changing internal structure type or myomer type (the last two have base replacement times of 360 minutes). Altering fixed components on an Omni unit."
And in the following section Omni Technology first paragraph:
"Omni units can have their fixed equipment altered, or removed to make more pod space, by following the procedures outlined above. However, any such change is a Class F refit."

There are multiple clarifications to be made here:
1. Two different words are used, components and equipment, which have different technical meanings. Which one is correct/intended? (I would argue both should be components and components defined as broadly as possible to cover the next few issues.)
2. Heatsinks and Armor are explicitly covered in Class A and Class B refits and are treated separately from weapons and equipment in the rest of the repair rules, leaving room to argue that changing heatsink type/location and armor are not Class F refits. A particular argument came up regarding engine mounted heatsinks which are not assigned critical slots. Is this intended?
3. Per Customization Basics on p.211 moving re-roll slots from one location to another has no effect on the process, which is counter to the intent of Omnis. Should this behavior be restricted to Class F refits?
