Not a new one, but i thought because of the restart of this board ... ;)
Shown here are the last seconds of Kapten Tyra Miraborg and her heroic flight into the Dire Wolf.
This was my first and yet only diorama. I tried to do something different. #P
Even though it is not new it is always nice to see excellent work :) You definitely succeeded in doing something different.
A few suggestions (aka nit-picking on a high level):
- The scene as a whole is relatively empty. Maybe you could have tried to create a few asteroids or floating debris to add more live to the space battle. The simple background isn't helping helping here - probably a more colourful field of stars would have been the better choice (and speaking of the background try to curve the background next time so you don't create sharp edges in the corners).
- The eye of the viewer isn't really drawn to the centrepiece of the diorama - the Dire Wolf. All the action is arrayed in a wide circle around the ship and mostly facing away from the ship. Angling more fighters towards the Dire Wolf might have already done the trick. More dramatic painting on the Dire Wolf would have helped too (e.g. lighting effects, super detailing, ...). Speaking of the painting the panel lines on the Dire Wolf look uneven. With the ship being the centrepiece in my opinion you should have taken more time on her. When painting many units it often comes down to finding the right balance between detail and speed, but the main focal point of a diorama should be painted with "detail" in mind opposed to "speed".
I am looking forward to your next diorama :)
