More seriously, though: BattleTech War/JumpShips all fit in one hex, which are generally assumed to be 1.5 inch hexes on a standard map board.  This standard includes both the Explorer JumpShip, at a svelte 50,000 tons, to the magnificent behemoth that is the 2,400,000 ton Leviathan II Battleship.

There is no scale.

So I can assume that the ship miniatures aren't even to scale with each other?

Not even a little bit.

They are scaled to be as big as possible but still fit on a hex base.

So is it safe to say that the mini for a destroyer could be the same size as the mini for a  dreadnought?

I don't know if that's the case with any of the existing minis, but it is possible.

Simply think of the minis as markers on a map in your faction's warroom ala ''Sink the Bismark''

Generally speaking, smaller ships will have smaller miniatures than larger ones. The miniature of the Black Lion class battlecruiser is smaller than the one for the Monsoon class battleship, for example.

But there's some variation. The vincent class corvette miniature is shorter than any of the destroyers I've got, but it's quite boxy so there's more overall bulk than some of them.

Scale has never worked for space craft. Some ships would be a foot long and the others would be a couple of inches or less. The price for some would be way to high.

There isn't really any scale to any of the minis...Space, 'Mech or anything in-between...
