My condolences. It took me three tries to get through. It didn't make me want to end myself from boredom the way Lost in Translation did, but it certainly was overhyped.

If you want a really hilarious time, try watching it with some actual Native Americans.

It wasnt that bad it was long, and some parts were really boring. Kevin Costner is a great actor, and the movie didnt end on a happy note. Ive seen a lot of those "stranger to a strange people becoming members of that culture" for a long time. Dances with Wolves set the standard that Avatar and others copied and terrible.

There's a reason that Avatar was frequently called Dances With Catgirls or Dances With Blue Man Group when it first came out.

Dances is too slow, for me.  I;'ve liked most other kostner films though.

Wish.

Apparently it's meant as a prequel of sorts with the ending referencing Cinderella, Snow White and the credits stinger referencing Pinocchio.

Kind of a mediocre movie over all, the music wasn't inspiring like so many others, and nothing overly memorable, outside of the stinger.

Pine was ok,  just think there was too much for him to try an achieve, while Asha just didn't quite fit as her character, sounded uncharacteristically older than what her character was supposed to be.

It's not really a prequel so much as it's just a reference to all of them for Disney's 100rth Anniversary or something.  I've heard a lot of speculation that Disney tried using AI to write the script.

Heh, this was one of the few times I was properly and thoroughly disappointed with the post-credits moment: "is this what we sat here for?". I've just never liked J.Cricket nor its song for some reason

Otherwise Wish was an ok flick to watch with the kids, they didn't seem to get into it as much as into some other recent-ish ones (such as Frozens, Sing, Encanto, Elemental) ::think

I hadn't realized it was a celebration of the 100 years of the animation studio until I went looking at a few videos after for reviews.  The storybeats then made sense why they were there, but yeah, still meh.

With all the garbage Disney has been pouring out, using AI would be an improvement.

The Deluge (1974) 5 hour Polish historical drama film. Its about a headstrong 17th century nobleman in the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth, who gets caught up in the conflicts with the Kingdom of Sweden. Vast, sweeping stuff, but some things are dated, and the romance is kinda awkward. Good intrigue and epic story, but some scenes drag. All in all, not bad for its time. Rating: 6/10

surprised you saw that one
i remember watching that one on polish tv channel one back in late 70s and on occasion you coul catch it in theaters
but still by far at least for me are 3 shows
czterej pancerni i pies aka 4 panzer crew and a dog
story about 4 crew members in polish part of russian army on the way to berlin and one of the crew members dog
stawka wiekrza niz zycie aka stakes higher than life....look up a movie which was rather good from 2000s
story about polish soldier recruited to be a spy by russian nkvd
btw these two shows were made in 60s and avoided censorship  being pro capitalist or socialist and were very popular at the time
przygody psa ciwila aka adventures of civil the dog serial made for kids about a police dog and his adventures as he grows up

it may be hard to get but i had seen some episodes on you tube a tv series about an engeneer his family with his issues of reaching middle age
it was made in 70s and it used a lot of places in warsaw that are iconic today such as trasy and bridges and central train station
40 latek aka being 40

krzyzacy aka crossmen is a bit of fictional drama  but worth watching not for the story but for authentic reproduction of armor and costumes
you sure cannot out run death...but sure as hell you can make that bastard work for it!

3 Body Problem (2024) Season 1. I got mixed feelings about this one. While it presents a new wrinkle in the alien invasion genre, I didn't care much for the characters, because they seemed more like archetypes than actual people. Also the way the story presents them as always being central to the plot involves way too many contrivances. Some ideas presented are definitely interesting and well worth a watch, if you can get through some of the more cliched parts. Rating: 6/10

I just finished it yesterday. I agree, some of the characters seemed a bit flat, but I thoroughly enjoyed Benedict Wong's character and performance. Overall, I enjoyed it, but it feels like it had to skimp on a couple ideas. It makes me want to pick up the books to see if they give more room to the philosophical ideas hinted at in the series.

Im currently watching With Fire and Sword (in Between the Ripley miniseries), so thanks for the other recommendations.

Yes, I agree that Wong's character is the best of the bunch (along with Sir Davos), but due to the other characters being so weakly defined other than their tropes, that he ended up being the glue by default rather than by design. IMO.

I havent read the books, so Im going strictly by what I saw.

I think it should be a rule the Benedict Wong should always play a character named Wong. Because Wong is Wong in every part of the multiverse. including our own world.

I'm watching Star-Wars: Solo.

I shut it off when the talking centipede showed up. Then I watched it again.  Danys Targarian is in it.  She was also in the Terminator reboot. It's not a bad movie, per se, I just go other things to do.

Solo's big problem was that it was really two movie scripts that they awkwardly mashed together.

Solo was ok.  Better than the sequels, but behind the prequels imo.

Ripley miniseries (2024) Since Im a big fan of this franchise (Ive got all the books and 3 movies on DVD) I had high hopes, but it was a major letdown. The whole thing could have been good, but it got sunk by very questionable creative decisions and casting.

To start, the guy who plays Tom Ripley is way way too old. In the book (and in the movie adaptations), Ripley is a young conman who becomes a serial killer. In this version he's a middle aged creep with no charm whatsoever, so its ridiculous to think he gets recruited by a rich tycoon to bring his wayward son back from Italy.

The other big mistake is to make it a B&W show. Why? All the colors, all the hues that would have made Italy great are gone. Everything is a dreary mess. What they should have done was make the NY scenes in B&W, and turn on the color the moment Tom got to Italy.

The third huge bomb is the pacing. This show is slow as molasses. Characters do nothing but walk from place to place and too many long scenes of landscapes and furniture. It was so padded that they could have made this a 3 part miniseries instead of stretching it to 8. It got really really boring after the first episode.

In the end, totally disappointed. Could have been a good show. If you want to see the book done right, its better to watch the movie adaptations: Purple Noon (Alain Delon totally nails it as Tom Ripley- the first is still the best one) or The Talented Mr. Ripley (Jude Law steals the show on that version) Rating 4/10

Solo was the most pointless movie I ever watched. And the guy didn't even look or act like Han, just some impostor.
