10 shots per gun total at full rate, which is actually reasonable since you don't have heat capacity to fire everything at full rate.

Sacrificing CASE IIs would allow for another ton, which might be OK since this uses ammo so fast. Any more and i need to reduce armor and/or add compact gyro or small cockpit.

I think the OP actually works in 3060. XLFE, ES, compact gyro, small cockpit. 15 DHS, 7 tons ammo.

Obviously not the greatest idea ever... ::)

What's the range on a PAC/2? isn't it something obscene?

worse than a standard AC/2, better than a LAC/2 - 7/14/20

OK. Now I'm picturing 16 hits from this 'Mech if it carries Precision ammo. That's a lot of tanks being pillboxed, or a lot of sandblaster damage.

Empyrus, what about a version for the Escorpion Imperio to support the Arana and Reptars? Can you fit more PACs on there if you use a Fuel Cell?

Batteries of PACs aren't worth it for pillboxing or sandblasting.  6 Clan LB-5Xs with cluster shots and a TC is strictly better than 16 PAC2s with Precision ammo for either role.

OK, that's seriously interesting. I'll give it some real thought. And gonna be a brand new design.

It's fine, I mean I like the Dakkatator.  That was just directed at mbear's PAC-2 idea.

Man.  I wish PACs were good, though.

I see yeah.

For Arana/Reptar support, i wouldn't go for a massive amount of PACs. Some, to be sure, perhaps missiles. Need to think about a FC/ICE powered BattleMech or armed Industrial that plays with those two.

The reason I mentioned the PACs in particular was because of an off-hand comment in the Arana writeup that said the Scorpions apparently had a boatload of PACs available, but no Protos to use them. But I agree, if the Imperio can get better guns in service PDQ, they're better off doing so.
