6mm castle cubes
« on: 15 July 2019, 19:56:08 »
Hello everyone!

It's been a while since I have posted. I usually do 32mm stuff. As an experiment, I recently made some 6mm castle cubes and tops for them that fit with the Battletech scale. At first they didn't strike me as something that would work for Battletech but I've had a few players mention that there are many types of old cities on various worlds where this might be able to work.  Here's a quick photo:

You can find the full article about these at https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/hirstarts/castle-cubes-molds-370-371-t8660.html.  Each main building block is 3/4" square x 5/8" tall. These pieces are easy to stack and rearrange as you need them.

I'm currently working on some 6mm street tiles to match this same style as well as some rock mountain building cubes. I should have something to show on the streets in about a week. I'm still trying to figure out the mountain building idea so that these buildings can ascend up the side of hills and such.

Thanks,
Bruce Hirst

These would look good in a battle for Tharkad game.

I think those would work just fine. Especially if you add an obvious futuristic building or two in just to help ground the setting.
"Well, I do, Marcus, and rule number one of the MAC has always been that the man with the plan leads. If we get shot up, I'm the first one to get my ticket punched. There are no flags in the MAC."
"And there never will be," Barton said, nodding his head in agreement.

"You guys are facing a freaking Shadow Division! These guys have strict policies against playing fair!"

"I don’t care. Kill them. I planned the defense so I know it will work. If they claim otherwise, they’re cowards. Any step back is a betrayal of me, and saying they don’t have enough men is just an excuse for incompetence and disloyalty. Tell the Krypteia to do it if you’re too soft but get it done." -Emperor Stefan Ukris Amaris I

Just a quick update.  I finally have instructions and videos on how to use theses 6mm castle molds. You can find the instructions at http://www.hirstarts.com/cubes/cubes.html.

Here's a quick photo of the project I had done with them:

The size should work very well for Battletech. I have a video describing the size of the buildings at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMU1gvkAVvE&feature=youtu.be.

Thanks,
Bruce Hirst

Hello everyone!

I've just completed a project using these new molds.  It's called "Square Foot City" because the whole city measures one square foot.

You can see the instructions for it on my web site at http://www.hirstarts.com/squarefoot/squarefoot.html.

I;ve posted a Youtube video of making the model which you can see at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN3QrS7tsMc&feature=youtu.be. I hope you all might find it interesting.

Also, I'm auctioning the actual model I made on Ebay at https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hirst-Arts-Square-Foot-City-model-1-285-scale-cast-in-dental-stone/202783506303?hash=item2f36d6bf7f:g:bHkAAOSwRg9dhV8b.

Thanks,
Bruce Hirst
