Tribble 45

During the Golden Century, Clan Fire Mandrill's Khan and saKhan, both of different Kindraa come to a conclusion: their Clan is too divided for it's own good. Thus, they deliver this ultimatum to all Kindraa leaders: unite, or we will all perish together. Despite the massive outcry against such a declaration, many of the Kindraa leaders declare a Trial of Refusal to the proposal with whatever Clusters they bid towards it. These Kindraa leaders are easily dealt with and the new Kindraa leaders fall silent in their opposition to unite their Clan. Sure enough, the various Kindraas of the Clan begin to dissolve and integrate forming Galaxies of a newly reformed Clan Fire Mandrill.

As the Great Debate begins, the Clan once again found itself divided; this time with the belief of returning to the Inner Sphere as either it's protectors or conquerers. When Khan Kerlin Ward proposed the Dragoon Compromise, Khan Arthur Carrol agreed to the compromise and offered his Clan's training regimines to prepare the Dragoons for combat in the Inner Sphere. Though the request was denied, the Fire Mandrills looked to the Star Adders in hopes of looking for means of understanding the tactics of the Inner Sphere forces should the invasion be approved.

When Operation Revival is approved, the Fire Mandrills will undoubtedly show the rest of the Clans and the Inner Sphere the full might of their newfound unity.

Tribble 46.

The year was 2800(ish) when Nickolas Kerensky related his vision of the future to the 500 mechwarriors who still followed him. Disgusted by what was happening in the Kerensky cluster, they followed him, and so convinced by his words, they threw a party.

Nicky, it turned out, couldn't hold his liquor.

And instead of relating his ideals piecemental over years, he burbled it all out, bragging about how he manipulated his brother Andery into getting involved with the mutiny, about his plans to create a race of genetic supermen to rule over the non-warriors, and how he learnt his ideals from watching Amaris's occupation of earth.

One of the warriors who head this promptly killed Nicky, before being killed in turn by another warrior. The party turned into a blood bath, and by the next day, the Second Exodus had been reduced so badly it was now just another faction in the pentagon.

The Pentagon wars continued- and expanded. The squabbling factions found Brian Cache's, and then found the locations of mothballed warships. By the time the war ended, the Kerensky cluster was in a state of cold war. One in which Warships- and Warship manufacture- was a significant part.

250 years later, the Outbound Light found the Kerensky cluster.

Tribble #47

When the new IlKhan is selected before 3067, many of the Homeworld Wardens see the writing on the wall and unceremoniously pack up to leave, not wanting to be around when the insane IlKhan sparks a disaster. Making their way to the Inner Sphere, they beg asylum with the Star League, revealing what the Homeworlds were going through. The new First Lord uses this information to convince the Star League to remain together, while the Refugee Clans ask to join the SLDF.

All in all, the IlKhan does not react well when he learns the Wardens just left. Within two months of the Wardens arriving in the Inner Sphere, the Homeworld Crusaders also leave to punish the "dezgra cowards." It's time for Clan Invasion 2.0, and the new Invaders aren't in the mood to follow zellbrigin when dealing with honorless Spheroids...

Interesting idea Terrace. I'd assume there would be four Refugee Clans from the Homeworld Wardens. Snow Raven is easy enough to imagine as their Outworlds destination is well known. For the three others I see an interesting mix of mystics perhaps united by a shared vision. Coyote, Goliath Scorpion, and Cloud Cobra all have that "sixth sense" even though some of them don't get along (Yotes and the Cobras). So perhaps a trio of seers unites them in a flight from the Homeworlds. What would the impact of this be on the Society?

As for the Homeworld Crusaders I included the Steel Vipers who yes are in FM Warden Clans but I think they are the ring leaders of this group along with their Star Adder allies. I could see the Adders pragmatically cover for their Cobra allies especially for the potential gains. Ice Hellion would probably jump on board as they want to invade ilKhan or not perhaps they lead the pursuit of the Refugees? The Fire Mandrills might split into two separate Clans with the Wardens joining the flight from the Homeworlds and the Crusaders chasing them. Blood Spirit is an interesting case as they might leave the Homeworlds as well but going to the InnerSphere?

Would the Invading Wardens be assaulted as well in this scenario? Good luck beating up on the Ghost Bears. Diamond Shark might split into two different Clans in order to do business with both sides. Sea Foxes (Zeta Galaxy) joining the InnerSphere as an Abjured faction like the Wolves in Exile could be a nice idea as the Sharks stay loyal to the Homeworlds. Then of course you have two Abjured factions already part of the Star League; Nova Cats and Wolf in Exile.

What are the Invading Crusaders doing when all this is going down? Wolf, Jade Falcon, and Hell's Horses will want to lead another invasion but likely want to keep the others out. Do Steel Vipers, Star Adders, Ice Hellion, and Fire Mandrill join them? Do Wardens defect from Hell's Horses and there is that whole Society thing....  ;)

So many ways for my tribble to change things O:-)

I think the Invading Wardens would at least offer safecon to the Refugee Clans. The Ghost Bears would be easily swayed to offer material aid, and perhaps vouch for them to the Star League.

The Invading Crusaders would indeed get defensive at the idea of the Homeworld Crusaders trying to horn in on their territory. They'd probably demand Trials of Refusal or Grievance against the Homeworld Crusaders. Of course, zellbrigen goes out the window after the first exchange. It would probably be enough for the Invading Crusaders to grudgingly work together with the Star League, while the Ghost Bears would be fighting all the while.

Some of the Refugee Clans might seek refuge with the Nova Cats and the Wolves-in-Exile (seeing the Cobras going to the Cats, with the Coyotes going to the Wolves-in-Exile). The Goliath Scorpions would probably negotiate for the worlds of the Lyons Thumb.

The other details are fluid, and can easily be adjusted for the story as needed.

Tribble #48

Arthur Steiner-Davion managed to get a girl pregnant before he was blown up. With the Civil War breaking out, she very sensibly kept her head down and the first anyone learned of Arthur's son was when he, in his teens, joined the AFFS just after the Jihad. The relationship was picked up on when his medical records were filed on New Avalon per routine and MIIO checked his history. Since he didn't seem to be doing anything to follow up on his arguably better claim to the throne than Yvonne's, she decided not to publicise his existence or even to let him know.

Harrison Sandoval-Davion was inclined to let sleeping dogs lie although he did pull a few strings quietly so his cousin's two children got opportunities to be mechwarriors when they joined the AFFS themselves. And then Harrison took his dive over the balcony and Caleb Hasek-Sandoval-Davion was rather alarmed to learn that two of 'his' Mechwarriors are unwitting rivals to the throne. Even worse, his first attempt to get rid of them not only fails but reveals their lineage to them and kills their father and grandmother.

So one First Prince with MPD versus two Davions with mechs and a grudge.

There has been some discussion about the Clans and LAMs going on recently, and it came up that the notable Goliath Scorpion LAM pilot from TR3085 was Trueborn so I was thinking there was probably an interesting story behind that because of how strongly LAMs clash with traditional Clan views.

War.  War never changes.
Since the days of the Terran Alliance, blood has been spilled in a constant attempt by one nation or another to unite humanity under a single banner.
In the year 2784, after a brutal conflict to oust the usurper Amaris from the throne of the Star League, General Aleksandr Kerensky took most of the SLDF with him into exile in an attempt to avoid being used to shed any more blood.  But it was not, as he had hoped, the beginnings of a life of peace for his soldiers.
Kerensky had succeeded in removing his troops from the fires of the Inner Sphere - but war, war never changes.
Believing themselves the rightful heirs to the lost Star League, the so-called Clans of Kerensky were startled out of their complacency by the appearance of a Comstar JumpShip.
Shocked by the technological advances made by the House of Liao-Davion, the descendants of the Star League Defense Force make preparations to invade and subjugate the Inner Sphere.

Tribble #50

Based on a conversation on SB (in Ed's Fragmentation story's discussion thread) I came up with the idea of the Lyran's operating on a strategy of building factories capable of churning out light, cheap tanks and APCs  (20 tons, ICE, turret mounted medium laser and machine gun) on about sixty worlds a little behind their border with the Draconis Combine - maybe 100 all told if the FWL border was included. Starting from around 2766 (just after the Amaris Coup) they'd have at least twenty years - closer to thirty probably - before the DCMS (focused on the Federated Suns) punched deep enough into the Commonwealth to hit serious resistance.

By this point it seems reasonable to think that each world in this zone could have a reservist force equivalent in training to a modern reservist force like the National Guard or Territorial Army with numbers of perhaps 40 Divisions of perhaps 4 Armoured and 4 Mechanised Infantry regiments each, using a base-4 organisation up to regimental level for regiments of 256 Armoured Fighting Vehicles each, 5 divisions to a corps and 8 corps to an Army. That would come to about 80,000 AFVs per world and a six-world administrative Army Group fielding roughly half a million AFVs and 1.7 million infantry. Such an Army Group would be almost entirely administrative since moving an Army would require 2,000-3,000 dropships but might control a few national regiments of 'Mechs, heavier tanks and crack infantry to use as a reserve.

Somehow I rather doubt that the DCMS would be able to conquer such a barrier. Blast the worlds to uninhabitability, yes. Leapfrog them and establish a beachhead of worlds, risky but feasible. Launch destructive raids, surely. Take and hold these worlds, no.

Since other states would no doubt imitate as best they could, the Succession Wars would largely be fought on strips of 'No Man's Land' worlds along the borders, with very limited ability to conquer past them. This would be rather bad for the Terran Hegemony and might lead to more action along the periphery, trying to work 'around' these lines. This would favour the Lyrans (who had a head start) but leave the Free Worlds League's fractious provinces even more problematic and the Federated Suns would likely lack a cohesive frontline for much of the First Succession War, leaving them vulnerable. Building up your worlds in the no-man's land to bring them out of it would be the objective of 'creeping conquests' with campaigns waged to prevent this, destroying the factories and wearing down the defenders before they can build up to such atrocious numbers.

The former Terran Hegemony would largely be exposed as part of the no-man's-land, with predictable levels of damage.

Similar build up probably takes place on key industrial worlds, reducing their vulnerabilty to long range strikes but at the same time meaning that there's little choice in knocking them out but use of nukes and other levellers. This might turn out to be even more devestating back when such wars are acceptable. At the same time, the ability to churn out tanks like this isn't all that difficult so many worlds would be able to start doing it... and these worlds then become hard to rein in if the House Lord elects to but the militia backs the local leadership. The consequences for interstellar government are no doubt interesting.

I'd imagine that by the time the Wolf Dragoons arrive, they find a rather fragmented Inner Sphere but also one that would make any Clan Invasion all but disastrous: almost as many soldiers on ONE world as there are warriors in all the Clans combined!

"What forces are bid to defend Kirchbach from Clan Wolf's Fourth Guards Cluster?"
"Army Group K's 6th Army. How big is a Cluster?"
"Forty-five OmniMechs, fifty elementals and twenty aerospace fighters. And what is the size of an Army?"
"Uh, just short of forty-one thousand tanks, about that many infantry fighting vehicles and a quarter-million or so infantry. Are you sure you want to invade?"

When in the employ of the FWL, the astute political general Jamie Wolf avoids a potential bloody confrontation with their employers.  Instead the Dragoons pledge their loyalty to the Mariks in exchange for a homeworld and noble titles.  As Dragoons cement alliances with marriage, Dragoon influence waxes over 40 worlds.  By 3039 the first generation of cloned warrriors raised in the Inner Sphere is blooded as Dragoon Merc regiments "volunteer" in the 4th Succession war.  By the Clan invasion, the Marik-Wolf house troops can field over one hundred regiments of mechs using second line Clan tech and several dozen newly built Warships.  Under Dragoon leadership, a climactic battle of refusal is fought on Tukayyid and won.  The Star League unites under the First Lord Marik.  But unbenownst to the IS, a Comstar who sees their work rapidly undone falls under the influence of a heretofore small faction advocating "extreme" solutions.

No change to the timeline at all, but accelerates everything by a decade or two?

Improbable on a couple of levels.

First, Max Liao specifically handed off the Dragoons contract to Anton in the final leadup to the Marik Civil War, so the only course of action open to Jaime without breaking that contract that doesn't result in large scale warfare would be to assassinate Janos and most of his children and install Anton on the throne.

Second, Jaime being an astute political general goes against nearly everything we see of him. In fact going by his repeated political and military missteps he's pretty much the epitome of the Clan ideal, being vastly over-promoted due to his individual combat skills. Fortunately you can handwave that Joshua is an astute political general, who was caught out after correctly assessing Anton because he didn't predict Kristofur's influence.

Third, Comstar in general and Vesar Kristofur in particular are very interested in seeing a Marik Civil War happen, and the Dragoons thrashed as well.  There is no easy way that I'm seeing around this, as even if you change the location, certain possibly Wolverine-ish elements of C* are going to put Wolf, Kerensky, and near-lostech together to mean 'holy crap the Clans are finally coming for us!', and seek to have the Dragoons deniably torn apart at the hands of others.

Fourth, the mission change to assisting the Inner Sphere and preparing them for a Clan Invasion didn't happen until 3019 at the end of the Marik contract. This is pretty much a dealbreaker, as as far as Jaime is concerned he needs to get on with the task of evaluating the FWL as a military after Max pretty much wasted his time leaving him sitting around during much of the contract with the CC.  You can change the mission revision to the first trip back to the Clans in 3009, but the question is then why would Jaime waste  five years dithering instead of sticking with the Fed Suns, or trying to jump straight over to the FWL. Jumping to the FWL would work, but doesn't address the issues of Anton and C*.

Tribble #52 Smelling the oncoming storm...

The Wolverine-Blood within Comstar were very suspicious when the Wolf's Dragoons came snooping, but didn't manage to prove anything... But they took stock of the Inner Sphere, and concluded that if their worst fears were right, and Kerensky was Coming Back, they wouldn't really have time to play the Long Con on the Inner Sphere. But knowing that any overt changes they'd do, like rolling out the ComGuards untrained and unblooded, with the fleet of their WarShips revealed in a flash, would both thrash their banked-up Trust within the common folks of the Sphere, but risk a massive coalition against them. And then Katrina makes her offer... And the Blood calculates some RealPolitikal odds with very sharp looks.

And throws their chips into the pot in a sealed envelope. The decision was made, they would have better luck in surviving if they had the Inner Sphere quielty integrated, and thus they work to leseen tensions, instead of fanning them up. Unwilling to trigger anything massive, they manage to get Lyran Commonwealth, Federated Suns, Free Worlds League and Draconis Combnine to talk cordially. Mad Max, unfortunately, proves too stubborn to think he can't get the upper hand, and after several of his schemes get secretly blown, the Alliance for Peace ends up agreeing to perform Police Action on Capellan Confederation. In the aftermath, Confederation ceases to exist as it was, but the Allianceknows that they need a fifth member, and invite Comstar into the Council.

And then there begin the rumours from the Periphrey, as Jaime's reports have stirred the Clans into more serious investigations...

Tribble #53.

Finding a new world nearby that seems to be a 1:1 copy of Terra, Clan Jade Falcon eagerly sends a Galaxy to conquer it. Issuing their batchall, they are suprised when, after consulting with local experts, the freebirth governments choose a tabletop wargame as the method of the Trial. The single Star Commander chosen will be given two weeks to familiarize themself with the rules and pick their forces, while the local experts hastily concoct their strategy and choose their representative to defend the planet.

Thus, with the eyes of the world upon them, the highest-stakes game of Battletech ever begins...

Tribble #54

In 2984 when the prospect of Invading the Inner Sphere is raised in the Grand Council one of the Clans takes a long hard look at what would be required to not only invade but also then garrison the Inner Sphere. They then get very very drunk and after the hangover has worn off, check their numbers again.

Over the next several generations the clan retreats into near isolation as far as the other clans are concerned. Privately they have cranked their iron wombs up to maximum and have established hidden factories and stockpiles that hopefully the other Clans can't find and steal declare Trials of Possession for. They're also wargaming as if their lives depend upon it.

When the time comes to bid for places in Operation Revival the Khans of this clan are increasingly glassy-eyed at what they see as the suicidal overconfidence of the plan. With a doomed look on his face their Khan issues their initial bid of around a hundred galaxies, mostly garrison forces, backed up by a fleet of over a hundred warships, their escorting dropships and a transport fleet that compares well with the Exodus fleet.

Obviously this is not the lowest bid, but equally obviously the balance of power among the Clans just got thrown into the crapper...

As the Word of Blake flee Terra and Comstar in the wake of the Focht-Mori Coup and assassination of Myndo Waterly, they seek whatever havens are willing to accept them. The Free Worlds League readily grants haven offering Gibson and its established mech factories, but the leaders of the Word realize that the League is simply too divided to offer truly safe haven.

Circinus is considered, and discarded, as you just can't trust a Circinian Pirate.

However one realm has always warmly accepted the teachings of Blake and is united in its causes., and so it is that the Outworlds Alliance agrees to having the Word of Blake within their border, and soon the Blake Alliance is born. The Outworlds are assimilated into the Blakist fold.

With peaceful borders, neither the Dracs or the Feds saw the Jihad coming.

But then the Blakists didn't see Clan Snow Raven coming either.

Tribble #56

General Aleksandr Kerensky wasn't a godly man.  Oh, as a young boy he had marveled at the beauty of the great Orthodox cathedrals dotting Moscow, and while studying at the Nagelring, he had taken in some "local flavor" and had his soul fired by the pompous grandiosity of Wagner's Der Ring des Niebelungen.  Intellectually, he knew that the great religions cared for the poor, fed the hungry, and clothed the naked.  He recognized that many of his soldiers derived comfort and consolation from their faith.  He was surrounded by pious men such as General Ethan Moreau and Chaplain Windham Khatib, men who he respected deeply, and who obviously drew great strength from prayer.  Even still, religious services made him uncomfortable, as did any thoughts of the divine which wandered through his head.

But now he was convinced.  God existed.  Oh yes, yes he did.  And He only cared about one thing; dicking with Aleksandr Kerensky.  Aleksandr had only ever wanted to serve the Star League, and God had given him Richard Cameron.  He had only ever wanted to defend humanity from evil, and God had given him Stefan Amaris.  He had only ever wanted to save humanity from itself, and God had given him first the Council Lords, then the mutiny on the Prinz Eugen.  He had only ever wanted to see his people safe from harm, and now God, in his infinite malevolence, had delivered once again; this horrible swelling fever of the brain which ripped through their makeshift little colonies like the plagues of ancient Terra.

A month ago, it had taken his wife.  That marvelous woman who had waited for him, hid for him, prayed for him, followed him, and now died for her loyalty.  He had cried for days, felt like his heart would shatter in his chest.   His staff had hid him from the outside world.  Aaron had drunk with him, mourned with him, toasted to the memory of the woman who he barely knew.  Good man.

But that was nothing next to what he felt now: the damned plague had taken his son.  His beautiful, beautiful Nicholas.  He had seen the still body that morning, skin grey with the familiar pallor of death that he had seen ten thousand times before.  He had raged like a maniac, torn the surgical mask off his face and thrown himself across the thin corpse, crying "Nika, Nika!"  Andery had had to physically pull him away, and he had cursed at him and beaten at him with enfeebled fists.  They had screamed at each other in the hallway, tears streaming down their cheeks.  Things had been said...It was unfair.  He had been getting better.  The medics had said that Nicholas would beat the fever, that he had turned the corner...

Aleksandr Kerensky sat in his office, and spent New Year's Day, 2786, cursing the God who had taken his son away.

Tribble #57:

In the year 3078, the Jihad was beginning to end. Sure, the Blakists were still dangerous, but the Coalition was winning. It was time to start looking beyond the Jihad, for Devlin Stone to think about the future.

If he, like he wanted, managed to forge a new nation, he needed to think about what would come next. Sure, he could make a new nation, but what would stop the House Lords from reconquering their former worlds after Stone had rebuilt them?

It was time, he decided, to break the power of the great houses.

It didn't take a lot of effort to get the 'Archonetts' to decide that they rather liked the idea of being independent rulers of their own nations, instead of being subordinate to the Lyran Alliance.
It took even less effort to convince the Warlords of the Combine that they could rule their own realms.
He didn't have to do a thing to make the Free Worlds League disintegrate.
Convincing the Federated Suns to fall apart was a lot harder, but with the way that the Cappellan March was trying to gobble up the Confederation, they managed it. Likewise, a few whispers in the right ears about how ignored they were made the Filtvelt Coalition swell up to take the entire Periphery March.

By 3082, the Inner Sphere was a collection of mini-states. The Largest three were the Republic of the Sphere, the Cappellan Confederation, and the Federated Suns (which retained almost 1/2 of its original size).

Tribble #58

Konrad McKenna, son of the Terran Hegemony's first Director-General, James McKenna, is not a twit.

He actually inherits James McKenna's skills, though not his personality. His quiet and efficient prosecution of the Director-General's last military adventure earned him friends and supporters.

James McKenna dies of cancer in 2338 and no succession has ever been considered. Old Terran Alliance supporters begin a campaign to retake the uncertain leadership position of the nascent Hegemony, and Konrad is caught in the middle.

Does he establish a new dynasty? Does he allow the Alliance-supporters to legally reclaim power?

He considers this as the nation that would become the Draconis Combine, the Alliance of Galedon, begins to expand in Terra's direction.

In order to maximize his force advantage in retaking the Exodus worlds, Nicky Kerensky dusts off an old Star League AI project. After much work, his scientists provide him the fruits of their labor...

This one can go two ways.

1) Project Battlefield Offense/Logistics Optimization. The only chassis they could come up with large enough to fit a full AI's required hardware was, well, massive. The giant super-tanks thus created had to be transported by specialized dropships and were armed with incredible arrays of weapons. The AIs, developed from the Caspar hardware and software, proved to be incredibly intelligent and loyal, unwavering champions of battle. By 3050, the return of the Clans is more akin to King Arthur's Grail Quest, a wave of true chivalrous champions bringing civilization back to the Inner Sphere.

2) Project CYbernetic Life fOrm Node. Apparently having more success at first, with AI proving remarkably adaptable and driving chassis of tanks, battlemechs, and even individual infantry, based on adapted power-armor designs. The Clans develop much more like we know their canonical selves, full of inter-factional warfare, until one day Everything Goes Horribly Wrong.
Outbound Light arrives at the Kerensky Cluster to find nothing but recently bombed-out ruins, and on its way back to the Inner Sphere encounters a Third Exodus fleet led by a bitter, anguished Ulric Kerensky....

Tribble #59 - A very Calderon Christmas

Christmas Eve 2767

Today was the day it all came together, Stefan Amaris thought as he trudged forward.

Unseasonally heavy snow fell around Unity City as Stefan Amaris made his way into the presence of Richard Cameron, First Lord of the Star League. Stefan has for years been aiming his plans towards this day, and everything was going according to plan. He smiled as he entered the Court of the Star League and headed towards the audience chamber.

'Sorry Lord Amaris', an SLDF sergeant called from behind a security desk, 'If you are looking for Lord Richard, he is down at the loading dock. We received a message from House Calderon this morning that they were sending a present to the First Lord as thanks for the SLDF dealing with the Taurian Freedom Army'.

Well if something isn't going to go as I thought it would, it doesn't matter where I shoot the spoilt brat

'Perhaps Sergeant you could guide me to where the First Lord is'

'Of course mi'lord'.

It was only a quick trip to find Richard Cameron, as Stefan, his guards and the Terran Sergeant headed towards the main loading dock for the Court of the Star League, to find Richard waiting impatiently as a truck reversed in carrying a large unmarked sea container.

I wonder what Nicoletta sent him Stefan mulled, before it dawned on him Oh cr . . .

As Richard Cameron opened the sea container which had been let through security on his orders, the megaton nuclear device inside detonated.

Taurian nuclear fire engulfed the Court of the Star League.

Sometimes I think that Australia was the inspiration for the Periphery, simply because they both look really good from a long way away, but up close, everything is trying to kill you.

Tribble #60

The First Succession War destroyed the Star League.

The Second Succession War destroyed the battle fleets of the Inner Sphere.

The Third Succession War destroyed the Successor States themselves.

By the late 2860s it was clear to all the Successor States that ComStar was intent on keeping the Wars going, to the point of having sabotaged attempts at peace talks. Operating under a loose alliance, Philippa Marik and Michael Davion each ordered an invasion of Terra in 2869. None of the other Successor States would risk the Federated Suns or Free Worlds League controlling the industries of Terra, much less the HPG network. Primus Raymond Karpov responded by ordering a General Interdict along with a renewal of Operation Holy Shroud to destroy remaining Successor State centres of technology. He confidently expected the Successor States to withdraw from Terra by mid-2870.

By Christmas 2870 Karpov was dead and fighting had spread from Terra to neighbouring worlds. The HPG network was broken and tens of thousands of fanatical Blakists killed themselves rather than be used by the Successor Lords to repair it.

Sian burned in 2872 in retaliation for use of chemical weapons by CCAF soldiers on Andurien. New Avalon fell in 2875 to the DCMS, before the over-extended invasion force collapsed and Coordinator Taragi Kurita was ousted by his uncle Miyogi. Biological weapons scoured Tharkad and Donegal: in retaliation LCS Invincible bombarded Atreus’ cities to rubble.

Stripped of communication and with jumpships being actively targeted by desperate defenders, supply lines collapsed, stranding armies on worlds that could not support or resupply them. There were no frontlines any more – regiments struck anywhere they could reach where they might be able to resupply.

By 2900 any pretense at national unity was over. At least four separate Archons had declared themselves while on Luthien the throne was empty and the factories silent. With manmade plagues spreading across the stars, many worlds quarantined themselves, refusing all outside contact.

That was one hundred years ago.

Poor Richard Cameron in Tribble 59. Swords of Fire really makes me contemplate what else he got and from whom.  :D

Clans gotta love that Tribble 60 drakensis. So when the Wolf Dragoon's arrive in 3005 and find do they lie or do they even think that the InnerSphere needs a Clan Invasion just to save itself.
