And while I'm at it, they did a great job with the Enterprise bridge.  Just the right mix of the TOS and JJTrek looks.  Just retro enough to make you believe it's an older ship than Discovery, but less claustrophobia-inducing and better-lit, which fits with it being one of Starfleet's premier vessels.  And they even threw in a bunch of TOS sound effects too, like the turbolift doors!

It'll be a shame if they built that for just the last 2 episodes of season 2.  And there's a way they could get more mileage out of it:

I'd have to actually see them, and your post has no pictures.

Thought you'd been watching.

Am I going to get into all kinds of copyright trouble if I start posting screenshots here?

cheers,

Loved the Enterprise and the bridge looked awesome.

One thing how many shuttles did those two ships have that was impressive to the point of stupidity - it's the one thing I didn't like about the episode.

Pike's an awesome character with a great actors I'd love a spin off about him more than one about Georgio even though I think that one would be fun.

It's a long standing Starfleet tradition to carry more shuttles than can fit aboard.

Couldn't they manufacture them on the ship? I'm not sure, but i don't think they have replicator, but given anything goes with things has show shown it has something like that in this time period?

Thought you'd been watching.

My television access consists solely of YouTube and dvds. No pay streaming access of any kind whatsoever. Heck, not even broadcast.

D7 in the foreground (blackish) and Discovery in the back (grey)

That. THAT is a D7. Between that and their excellent Enterprise, the early stuff angers me even more, that they inflicted them upon us when beauties like these were clearly within their reach.

Does season 2 make sense if you don't watch season 1?

You could get by with a synopsis, to explain what's up with Georgiou and Tyler.

Allegedly they can't, but the things appear to reproduce when left alone for a few episodes.

Must be made out of coat hangers.

I have the opposite problem. Coat hangers get eaten in my closet!

I want to say that in the TOS era replicators were mostly for food & more simple items. I don't think you got full-function replicators until the TNG era. Even then the background was inconsistent (remember the cooks in STVI? Kirk eating food cubes in TOS?). That being said, though, using replicators to produce shuttles was probably a big deal even on the Ent-D.

DISCO has food and clothing synthesisers, which operate more like advanced 3D printers.  The ones in the ship's galley are designed to be visually consistent with the ones seen on the Enterprise in TOS. There's an implication in the Short Trek episode Calypso that there's also facilities to cook aboard ship.

I'm kind of hoping to see Discovery appear in a post-Voyager timeline. That would be just excellent. Too bad we can't take Pike with us on that journey considering Anson Mount's Pike (and Emo-Spock) have been break-away stars this season.

Well, that would give the people who thought that the show should've been a sequel rather than a prequel what they want, in a way.  Then it would be both!

Spock seems to be remaining on board the DISCO though.  We'll have to see what happens in the last episode, but perhaps he's the only one who makes it back from that future?

And if you want more of Pike, sign the petition!

cheers,

Gabe

Well we know the Discovery ends up in the far future from the Short Trek Calypso.
I originally thought maybe SOMEHOW the ship managed to survive for hundreds of years, but now that sending it to the future is a plan they are trying maybe it's that.
Have to wait and see if the crew does actually go along, which could be super interesting.  Obviously there's be some plot reason Spock will have to get off the ship (I'm guessing he has to go out in the shuttlecraft or EVA suit to work on something and thus gets separated from them)

And here is the new-old-new Enterprise bridge:
(Pulled pic to be nice in quoting)

And now Cryptic has the last piece to bring the Disco-prise into STO...
And here's a thing off of the Official ST Youtube channel on the Disco-prise bridge.

@BridofPrey
If they do go that angle, in some way shape or form, I wouldn't be surprised if a 'extra stop' is made for STO as well. They did it with the Ent-C and the ISS Discovery (While leaving "Killy" in STO era...).

Seems Spock is clean-shaved and a new order prevents any9ne from discussing the events of Discovery. Nice and tidy entry into TOS era Trek. All the remains to be seen is what happens to Discovery in the far future.

Is it just me or is it insanely silly that Control, this VERY powerful and clever AI didn't have a backup somewhere or something and killing its meat puppet defeated it in its entirity?  But at least they didn't grab the low hanging fruit and go "Control = Borg!"

I for one hope we haven't seen the last of Control.  If *I* were Control, that's exactly what I would do--create a few backup clones but not in numbers or places where they would attract unwanted attention.  Lie low and keep sending out feelers every now and then for clues about Discovery's where-and-when-abouts.  And when the ship does finally surface, Control--whatever form it's in--will have had several centuries to prepare for DISCO's reappearance and formulate a strategy for getting what it wants.

Control, by its very nature, can afford to be patient.  Discovery and its crew can't.

I think that trekmovie.com is the best source of information right now on what's happening with the show and where it's going.

https://trekmovie.com/2019/04/19/alex-kurtzman-confirms-star-trek-discovery-season-3-destination-hears-fans-on-pike-series/

I think decision to make Control "officially neutralized" is pretty short-sighted.  See previous post for what *I* think they ought to do with it.

And they no longer need to worry about (big) issues of conflicting with canon.  They get to make canon now.

cheers,

Gabe

I wonder if they're going to go with Pike series.  It sounded like they were leery of doing anything change canon, even though it really doesn't matter anymore. It's own universe now.

Discovery in the future...sounds like is going be like Andromeda or something right?
