Yes it is, sorry for not coming by here more often!

Starts at noon, and you don't have to bring anything. Pencils are always welcome, as are copies of TW and TacOps. And I presume people like to bring their own dice, though I should have enough to cover all that if need be.
The solution is just ignore Paul.

Anyone up for some BattleTech in the next couple weekends (Nov 1-2, Nov 8-9)? Could play at Games and Stuff in Glen Burnie or up here in Harford County (northeastern MD) at either Bel Air Games or Critical Hit Games. Nothing super formal, just looking for a pickup game.

Demo Day @ Bel Air Games - Sat., Nov. 22 - 1 p.m.

Whether you're a rookie MechWarrior ready for your first battle, or a seasoned veteran looking to sharpen your skills, come play BattleTech at Bel Air Games' Demo Day, Nov. 22 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The game will feature everything you need to play, and a basic rules set perfect for those just starting out with BattleTech or eager to jump in after some time away.

In addition, there will be a variety of other great miniatures and board games set up for demonstrations at the store. Don't miss it!

Well, its been a bit!

Next game: Saturday January 24, starting at noon!
Capellan Warrior House Ijori is sent to raid the Steel Vipers on Orkney.
One of the few moments the Capellans got to fight the Clans back then, this will be a great opportunity to see some tech square off that didn't oppose each other that often.

Hope to see you there!

I didnt spot a canon reference as to what world they fought on, and liked Orkney for reasons to be revealed later. Drop me an email to discuss, despite your continued no-showiness. ;)

We're scheduled to be in the vicinity...

Might be worth the trip just to see a real life game store that sells Battletech

Not to mention, a really great game store in general. If you've never been to G&S before, it's pretty top-notch.

There are two good game stores in Richmond, neither sells Battletech.  Which is sad because one is 2 miles from my house and the other is where I played as a kid.

Just a bump as a reminder. Also, the store will be celebrating its 15th anniversary!

They're doing a number of cool things, details below:

http://gamesandstuffonline.com/?p=1799

Short form: several game companies are coming by to run demos/show off their stuff, several cool sales, and a gift give-away.

So, if you're plotting to spend some $ on games, this might be the weekend to do it!

And a customer just decided they need their project to deliver Saturday morning instead of Friday morning.  Yay I get to work a 6th day this week.

I'm out.

I'll keep checking in here, we're up there all the time.  I'll catch one eventually.

Game went fairly well, sorry that some couldn't quite make it.

Each player was handed an envelop with specific instructions about who they were and how they'd score points.
At the end of the game, the Clan side determined that while it had a commander eager to do well, its two other players were solahma warriors, who just wanted to die in combat. After scoring 1 kill at least.
The Capellans were asked to raise their hand if they were a Thugee cultist: 3 players of 4 did so. It's a shame about operational security: their instructions did not mention that there might be others, though they started to at least suspect that.
The Capellan commander was asked to reveal his orders: Maskirovka had discovered the Thugee cultists, and wanted them to die in combat. (Finding grounds to have them executed for treason was also acceptable)...

Bit of a twist from the norm, I got the impression it was enjoyed. I might do it again in a future game, obviously with different circumstances. =)

Next game: February 14th. I know, but it was the day the store had available. =)

Clan Snow Raven vs Clan Steel Viper. Much hate, and some orbiting WarShips available to both sides! I'll be bringing a lot of sheets, because I suspect a very high turnover. ;)

A shot from the final turn of the battle. The center of the field degenerates into a slugfest, as the Capellans (green and gray painted minis) finally bring a portion of the Clan Steel Viper force (plastic minis) to battle. Blue markers are Thunder mine fields, light green markers are smoke.

In the foreground, a Capellan Yu Huang squares off against a Stone Rhino (Warhammer) and after unloading six medium lasers and a gauss rifle, finally gets through its thick center torso armor, causing an engine hit.

In the far background, the remnants of the Capellan "reinforcements"--which had been intentionally dropped in (by me) in the worst possible spot--battle a mixed reinforced star of light and medium Clan 'Mechs.

The real shenanigans were in the middle ground. The Locust you see there pulled off a successful 14-hex (I think?) charge against a Matador (the Dragon), which was standing next to an Annihilator C.

There was some uncertainty about the exact rules, but with Paul's guidance we determined that the Matador displaced into the Annihilator's hex, pushing the Annihilator...into the nearby Depth 1 water, just as the Locust pilot intended.

A whole lot of dice rolling later, the Matador was banged up, but the Annihilator was in a world of hurt. The player controlling it took damage to the head but made his roll to not have the cockpit breached and flooded. He wasn't so lucky on the next roll, leaving one of the Annihilator's legs useless and the Mech basically trapped underwater!

I was the Capellan commander and managed to get two of my reinforcements killed. I wasn't quite clear on the concept of being able to give orders to my two teammates, and give a choice of map I "stupidly" picked the lower right sheet, full of dense forest which prevented the Clanners from getting lots of nice clean shots on my traitorous Thugee scum. What can I say, playing to get killed was tougher than it sounds, like working against muscle memory...

Super fun game, and I'm looking forward to the next one!

Next event will be Saturday 03/21, starting at noon, during which I intend to avoid my mistake from February, where I managed to forget to bring the record sheets... :)

So, Clan Steel Viper vs Clan Snow Raven, both Clans have WarShips to provide support. Expect randomness!

If I come by this weekend, it'll be a cameo appearance. I might last long enough to get shot out of a light 'Mech or two. Or if you can use me as a short-term harasser or wild card force, great.

In for sure on May 9, however. Sure, it's Mother's Day weekend--good thing my mother knows I love her, and that blowing up stompy robots makes me happy.
