Release Dates are jinxed, and in the fashion of Douglas Adams's Bistromatic Drive only serve to establish on which day the product won't come out. Everybody knows that.

With that out of the way, my current understanding is that the HB:Arano will be available exclusively as a PoD product (no PDF), and exclusively via DrivethruRPG, right?
If so, and having never used this vendor before myself, do they even offer PoD shipment to Germany?

Oh, okay. (Mumblemumblereadingcomprehension... thank you. :) ). So there is a Plan B.
However, my Plan A remains to obtain a physical copy. We'll see if that works out, and for what price.

From...
With this final timeframe, it does not appear that we will meet our May 31st release date, but will absolutely have the POD and PDF book available for purchase by June 7th.

...to...
House Arano update: we have eagerly been waiting clearance from our PoD printer that the final files have been processed and are ready to go, which would allow us to make the book available for purchase. Like many of you, we have eagerly “mashing the F5 button” all day, but as of this writing it is still not available.

I do not believe there will be any change to the status over the weekend, but as soon as we have the green light from the printer and DriveThruRPG, we will announce the release of the book.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Nope, no more dates. We’ve never dealt with this process before, and it’s a learning experience. We’re being open about that. We’re on this ride together now, and it’ll be released once it’s been cleared.

If I remember correctly Onebookshelf (Drivethru family owner) has made deal with printing facility in Europe that is able to print most of PoD stuff (not cards as I found last year). And I don't think it was mentioned as PoD only product. PoD is being the most difficult part as I see it. They publish books simultaneously, PDF and PoD. I don't expect it being different for HB: Arano.

The worst would be not being open about it. You are handling it probably the best way as you can in this situation.

I keep in mind a simple fact--until the product is out, they ain't earning money on it.

Everyone likes money.

Which means that they are just as eager to get this out the door as we are to buy it, and are doing everything they can to achieve that happy day.

Curious, I thought the delays had something to do with the lack of hard dates. I must be getting old. This is, what, the second or third delay on this book alone?

In the old days, the delays still happened, they just didn't talk about them as much.
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

We as a community have been utterly spoiled by the openess and transparency of  CGL. In the long run weve had  more good surprises than bad, and the only reason we get so worked up is becuse they share so much to get excited about.

Keep up the good work Catalyst, my wallet is ready when you are

It's the internet. I mean, before everyone had internet connections, well, you knew the product was in when you walked into your FLGS and there it was. At best, you might have Diamond or the industry trades, and they'd tell you "it's due out fourth quarter, ,1985"

Now, because we have this instant communications system, and because of that, delays that we once never noticed jsut wear on us, like we were waiting for that new kidney from some unreliable Shadowrun organleggers.

What I find a bit perplexing is the fact that they never seem to see these delays coming, you'd think they be aware of these potential problems by now.

Humans are either optimistic or unmotivated, in my experience. They know about them, they just hope they won't happen.

You know the story about the marines who know that most of them are going to die in the assault; sucks to be those other guys.

A schedule, like I am sure theirs are, have some slippage put in.  But I would rather know what is going on- especially as they try to put the envelope- than hear nothing.

Some of you seem intent on complaining until we get back to the point we hear nothing and see no previews- just 'Surprise!  Here is our new product!'  I understand the problems, and I am glad to have gotten the peaks when the date has gotten pushed out.   Love seeing ToC to know what is in the product.
