Outworlds Alliance 2800
« on: 20 October 2020, 08:14:01 »
I was looking at what the OA produced in 2800, the moment when they realize they are on their own.

They produce the Seydlitz, I would say 2 lines for 12 total per year.
One line of the lightning, 6 per year.
One line of Wasps, 12 per year.
One line of Stingers, 12 per year.
One line of Locusts, 12 per year.
An unknown number and type of conventional ICE vehicles.

They can’t produce the Vedette or Hunter until the mid 2900’s as these vehicles are not in production yet.

Do they produce anything else?

There was mention of another type of fighter, which the OA was producing in small numbers for the Draconis Combine under some kind of long-term contract.  I don't recall the type of fighter, or how far back the contract ran, but it was being called into question in the 3025 timeframe.

That would be the Lightning and it was listed as being produced at 100 per year and sold to Kurita.  Since the FWL only produced 425 total fighters that seems excessive.

NTK-2Q Night Hawk was produced on Alpheratz also by Mountain Wolf Battlemechs until 2945.

Which is funny because the xl engine and double heat sinks go extinct in 2865.

Sounds like an opportunity to get them to build a 35 ton firebee type mech for the OA military.

Maybe we have an as-yet unseen introtech Night Hawk to fill in the gap. Happened with the Talon too

True. Of course the 2945 year was for the Vendrell factory (my fault there), the Alpheratz factory lasted longer.

But in 2800, it still being built there until the XL and Double HS force it out.

This makes the introduction of the Merlin a bit less remarkable then.
It's still big, but between 2945 when the lines closed and 3010 when the Merlin entered production is just 65 years, within a single lifetime.

Or they could be producing 35-ton chassis for Kurita as well. The classic Panther despite being ubiquitous in the DCMS wasn't really being produced in a lot of places in this era.

Panther production would set alarms off in the suns.  Since the hunter has a 175 fusion engine and the OA eventually builds it that engine works for me.  They could add a 240 fusion for the Merlin later.  Ok, I think I will do a separate post of the OA builds from 2800 to 3014.  Should be fun.  Thanks for the replies.

I would guess that the Alliance produces the Tiger T-12 tank (this verhicle was basically the Vedette of the Star League era) But from your listing the Alliance is really poor in regards of production variety.Makes me think that they probably kept most of the uprising Mechs and other advanced tech alive for as long as possible

Not a lot of other options when your tax income is trivial, due to lack of industry in general and a lot of the population having no trust in government of any sort.  The military, with its limited budget (in a largely pacifist society), was probably hard-pressed just to keep the existing hardware serviceable.

This is somehow strange when I think about the Outworlds Alliance in the Star League era. The Alliance grew and they even had some good industries in place (unlike House Amaris House Avellar reinvested their growing income into their own realm). They probably relied too much on the Star League for protection (of course the limits on the military set in by the Star League must also be considered).

They lost like 4 RCT's equal during the Uprising years plus their fleet of Pinto Corvette's, which was 15 IIRC.

Their military got a ton of old SLDF machines when the SLDF did their upgrades. They had a good Laser factory on Ramorra (?) plus the Battlemech Factory making the Night Hawk.

OA main problem is a barely functional government. Overall, the OA was on decent terms with the Star League. Compared to the others anyway.

Ravenna Electronics was able to manufacture the Charger 1A9 due to a legal loophole that Luthien Armor Works had missed.  I wonder if that means that Ravenna was building the Charger 1A1 before acquiring the plans for the 1A9.  Could the Outworlds Alliance have been building and fielding Chargers since the days of the Star League?

I doubt it, looks like they got the Charger license around 3067.

Unclear when they got the license, but the 3067 date is for when they had production.
Considering the variant they fielded debuted in the War of 3039, I suspect they got it earlier.

I just thought about it: in the 3050 TRO it is stated that the Alliance is building the Bombardier. And not the stock version or tech reduced version but an own version of the Bombardier. Could it perhaps be that they build this machine for quiet some time (in low numbers probably)?

I can see where United Outworlds began producing the Bombardier in 3071 with help from the Ravens. But nothing before that.
