This thread is for all issues and problems with the 2021 re-release edition of Strategic Operations: Advanced Aerospace Rules.

There is no compiled errata for this product at this time.

This thread is only for reporting errata for the 184-page edition of Strategic Operations with the new cover.  We are no longer accepting errata for older printings.  The previous edition's errata thread (now locked) can be found here:

Page 102, Individual Weapons

Quote
A side effect of individual weapons use is that individual standard-scale weapons may struggle to penetrate capital-scale armor; only a select few may inflict the 10 points of damage required to cause a point of capital damage. To reflect this, roll 2D6 whenever a standard-scale weapon strikes capital-scale armor.

Per Total War page 238, standard-scale weapons striking capital-scale armor don't round down, they round normally(0.5 goes up).

Change the above paragraph to:

2021 Corrected Third Printing pdf

Here are the page reference errors to TO: AR, TO: AUE, SO: AAR and CO pdfs I've found in the initial release of the SO: AAR pdf. Plus a couple other problems I've found while looking for page reference errors. Other pdfs used are:
- TO: AR 2020 Corrected Fourth Printing pdf,
- TO: AUE 2020 Corrected Fourth Printing pdf,
- CO 2021 Corrected Second Printing pdf.

Note that:
1. this is a product of just one evening of my work, and it is entirely possible that I've missed penty of errors,
2. I have not checked page references to books other than TO: AR, TO: AUE, SO: AAR and CO (under assumption that since everything in TW and TM remained mostly on the same pages since first release, there is much lower chance that references to these books were broken by recent changes in core rulebooks line),
3. I have not checked the table of contents and the index.

Page 21, "Planetary Conditions" header, last sentence reads: "If a unit cannot be displaced (for example, all the adjacent hexes are prohibited terrain), the unit is destroyed."
I think this sentence should moved to the "Stacking" header two paragraphs below.

Not Errata, but simplification:

4th edition, page 146, the Advanced Aerospace Unit Cost Tables:

Basically these two cost formulas:
JumpShip Support Systems 10,000,000 x (Unit Tonnage ÷ 10,000)
WarShip Support Systems 20,000,000 x (50 + Unit Tonnage ÷ 10,000)

Could easily be simplified to:
JumpShip Support Systems: 1,000 x Unit Tonnage
WarShip Support Systems: 1,000,000,000 + 2,000 x Unit Tonnage

(There is no need to divide a value by 10,000 then turn around and multiply by 10 million, when just multiplying by 1000 would do.)

General Rules - page 29, the italicized example, right-hand column, 3rd full paragraph, last sentence:

bay., and so there is no potential for a critical hit for damage
exceeding that location’s Damage Threshold.

Last I checked, 18 is above 8.  Also, the period needs to be removed.

Change this sentence to:

Apologies for double-post, but found another nitpick:


4th printing -> Advanced Aerospace Construction -> Designing Advanced Aerospace Units -> Step 1: Design the Chassis -> Choose Weight -> Space -> 1st paragraph (p133):

Quote
For Space Stations and WarShips, this limit is 20 weapons per each of the unit’s 6 arcs.

According to this Warships have 6 arcs.

Contrast with the "Advanced Aerospace Unit Record Sheet Table" (also p133).  The table (for just the Headers and the relevant Warship row) says:

WarShipWarShipNose, Fore-Left/Right, Broadside Left/Right, Aft-Left/Right, Aft

According to this, Warships have 8 arcs.


Recommendation:
Either change the table to remove 2 of the arcs (not sure which 2), or change the sentence on page 133 to say something like:

For Space Stations this limit is 20 weapons per each of the unit’s 6 arcs.  For WarShips this limit is 20 weapons per each of the unit’s 8 arcs.

This ruling that units using the Abstract Aerospace System may change altitude freely as long as they are not in the Central Zone should probably be added as errata, presumably to the Movement section on SO (4th printing) page 17.
