Weighing in slightly lighter than the original design at 25 tons, the Hussar
IIC's chassis is nonetheless far more durable, with 4 tons of Ferro Fibrous
armour providing almost 3 times the protection than the original. The reduction
in weight was a requirement to balance its overall mass an engine speed in
order to give it its prodigious rate of movement: with a top speed of 195 kmph
the Hussar IIC has close to the highest rate of movement of any Battlemech, and
can maintain it indefinitely thanks to not having to rely on MASC like units
such as the Firemoth. This staggering rate of speed is made possible by an Endo
Steel chassis and XL engine.
The Hussar IIC's choice of weapon, a Heavy Large Laser, marks its departure
from the original's doctrine of usage. Rather than a harasser that is intended
to hit and fade like in the classic '10 fingers of death' scenario, the Hussar
IIC's remit is to close with the enemy and flank them, pounding lighter units
into dust and attacking heavier units from the rear. It has, as a result,
gained popularity with young Mechwarriors wishing to prove themselves, as well
as older veterans concerned with maintaining their personal glory.
