Doubly dubious!
Dubious indeed, yet still an interesting nugget. Just have to wait and see ;D Now to finish reading SHRAPNEL and on to Grey Watch Protocol.

In a shady meadow green

Near a good old-time canteen.

Lots of stuff I mostly concur with

Largely agree, but I'd like to argue for the value of Clan Jade Falcon as a seperate entity from Clan Wolf.

The Rivalry between Wolf and Falcon allows ample opportunity for each to keep warriors sharp.
Having the Jade Falcons join the ilClan's star league could prompt others to as well. After all, if a clan that has long been a rival can recognize the Falcons, what's wrong with the rest of you?
Wolf and Falcon HAVE worked together before.
The Falcons will be hurting and membership in the Star League could buy them time to rebuild.

The main argument I can see for the absorbtion of CJF is that there is a loremaster in 3250 with a Falcon Bloodname. Certainly not impossible, but I'm not going to put a wager on it.

IIRC it's 2nd Succession War and TRO:SW. Might be 1st SW as well, but I don't have those books, since I'm absolutely done with the succession war eras.

None of them have a TON of hints.  the main takeaway from them that I could see is that (1) the position of Exarch still exists and sounds as if it is within or somehow subordinate to the ilClan, and that the loremaster of the ilClan is a Roshak.

My guess...Reunification War 2.0. So a Clan takes Earth. That doesn't mean everyone else is going to surrender. They'd have to use force to get every under their boots.

There is going to be a war of sorts since the Clans have taken Terra for sure. But who will be part of that war is up in the air. Some of the Great Houses might be a part of it, but looking at what happened during the Star League Civil War makes me doubt it there isn't going to be a major push back from them and they will go back at each others throats like before. But this is just me thinking about it.

I personally hope that becoming the Ilclan destroys the clan culture of whichever clan takes Terra, doubly so if Alaric's wolves do so as it looks like they will. Which would leave the remaining Wolves-in-Exile as the only true Clan Wolf again. I hope but don't expect that the issues of conquering a foreign people with only a tiny minority finally hit a clan, I don't necessarily want them destroyed, I'd just like the Clans to stop cheating for a little while.

In that vein I really hope the Jade Falcons don't escape complete destruction, or at least reduction to the level of the Fidelis. You can't justify the preservation of the Jade Falcons and the nigh extermination of the Smoke Jaguars, much as I dislike the Jags they haven't committed nearly as many or arguably as horrible crimes as Malvina's Mongols have, leaving aside everything else the Jade Falcons have done. Pity Aidan Pryde's ghost.

Also I'd like to see Julian successfully defeat the Draconis Combine and regain the Draconis March. He probably won't win against the Cappellans, but eh what can you do?

And finally I want to see more active/relevant Periphery powers. Specifically I want to see the Timbucktu Collective prosper.

But that's just a wishlist, I eagerly-ish await much nashing of teeth when the Clans get away scot free, the Fed Suns get dissolved and somehow the Lyran Alliance gets back on it's feet just long enough to crush the Collective before the clans completely conquer it :P

My only question is how Malvina will meet her end in battle with Alaric or by a knife as foreshadowed in “The Anvil”.  With the establishment if the Ilclan I believe there will be a small exodus to Terra among the 6 home clans but little changes.  Hopefully they make that 3150-3250 gap similar to the third succession war. Small battles across the Inner Sphere where everyone can cut their teeth without using a regiment to achieve their goals.

I think by the knife. My bet is Stephanie Chistu winds up as Jade Faclon Khan when all is said and done.

This. Wouldn't it be an interesting turnabout if the continuance of the Jade Falcon/Wolf rivalry, with the Falcons either in the existing IlClanate (IlKhanate?), or outside vis-a-vis the Wolf exiles, serves to allow, intentionally or no, some elements within the Inner Sphere to avoid having to sign on with the renewed Star League? Or even sees the Falcons form the hub of an alternate power bloc?

I believe the Falcons will continue to exist in some form or another after the inevitable showdown with the Wolves.

They have to many fans to have them be completely wiped out.

My greatest hopes for an IlClan book?

1: Paint scheme for the Republic Navy (preferably matching the cover of FM:3085).

2: Paint scheme for Raptor Keshik.

3: Playable stats for a variety of ArcShips.

That is a practical set of hopes right there.

I'm hoping I don't recognize them. Factions that change over time and are different from era to era are much more interesting than ones that feel roughly the same from one century to the next.

Paintschemes for any unit introduced in a product going forward would be nice, 'specially with Camospecs in the limbo state it's in right now.

So I just got my copy of Shrapnel, and read the short Wars and Rumors story, spoilers below.

What does everyone think about the reveal of Operation Appleseed?  I personally think it is giving Anastasia too much credit.  It definitely paints all her actions in a different light.  I'm not sure how she expected her advance agents to convince all these merc commands to actually join her 'new army'.  Although, the retcon does have the support that the Wolves who went to different merc companies did indeed push Anastasia's ideas of cross-training.  I wonder how much of this idea was there from the beginning.

It would explain why a bunch of Steel Wolves who left, because Tassa K turned the Steel Wolves into a mercenary outfit, ended up joining a bunch of different mercenary outfits. Tassa K probably expected a certain level of attrition, but even with attrition it looks like she's getting a ~400% return on investment. I do like that the story connects story elements from MWDA novels like Wolf Hunters to the current fiction.
