What, not enjoying shooting bee-filled gauss slugs off a sinking aircraft carrier in a zero-g sandstorm using advanced dead zone rules? ;-)

What page can I find the bee-filled Gauss slugs in Interstellar Ops?

Oh, yes, optional rules I hate.  Stackpoleing is at the top of my list.  I don't like the rule with woods absorbing damage. I think that's it.

Bee-filled gauss slugs is an old forum joke that goes back to the days of Usenet.  And it's best not to ask for further details, few people can take the SAN loss.

I don't have TO personally, but are there rules for Bees in the Cockpit (and how to get them out)?

There are rules for flesh-eating insect swarms, which could be a threat to a mech with the Poor Environmental Sealing quirk.

The only pilot that gets bees in the cockpit is Leftenant Farley.

I just assumed it was some sort of reference to hive rounds as found in Car Wars back in the day.

The...'history'...involved is, well...involved.  Just safe to say that the person most responsible for the joke is no longer with us and leave it at that.

Bee guided gauss slugs? Sure. Not even as crazy as real life.

In ww2, the us/uk had pidgeon-guided bombs. You read that right. They were trained to peck at the image of a ship on a screen in front of them to get food. They put them into a box in the bomb and tied the guidance fins to their pecks. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Pigeon

No-Dachi has a counter-argument. Nothing further? Ok.

I just thought of another optional rule I don't like:  Glancing blows.  I don't need to slow the game down like that.

Aye, you may as well make people roll for damage like in D&D...

There is something especially annoying about driving a gauss slug through someone's cockpit yet not even breaching armor.

Imagine getting a glancing blow against someone with Hardened armor.

I feel like Glancing Blow rules were created specially to explain how Victor survived when Prometheus was shot in the head by Adam Steiner's Thunderhawk.

I think the rule pre-dated it, but it WAS the explanation since it glanced off the shoulder or chest IIRC.

In Battletech..with enough thrust...

..even a fully loaded Cement Truck can fly.

Art really doesn't apply, which makes things interesting for people want UNIQUE looking vehicles, mechs etc.

Getting things to fly isn’t particularly hard with enough thrust. Getting them to fly efficiently is an entirely different story. Getting them to do things like.. turning safely is also harder. The best description I’ve heard for steering something like a flying dump truck is like trying to turn a supersonic ocean liner.

With a sufficiently efficient rocket, you can make a dumpster fly. You can even get it to fly straight with a stabilizer. The drag will be through the roof though
