What was the captical of New Avalon before Avalon City?

Doing some research on Sarna it appears that Avalon City wasn't founded until the 26th century, when it was adapted from of all things a theme park. This begs the question, what was the capital before that? Is it mentioned anywhere?

I mean according to Sarna that isn't too far off:

Avalon City was first developed as a theme park with a medieval motif, which inspired the use of that imagery by the Davion family as a means to inspire confidence in the realm.

My best guess is the Drop Port at Albion, if only because it is close to the confluence of the three rivers on the continent of Albion. My guess is that those rivers were used to irrigate the fields that the grain from the Grain Rebellion was grown in. Albion would be a natural place to ship the grain from New Avalon to Terra.

Mostly I just want to know if there is any information that would contradict that.

I can't think of any and being the main spaceport on the planet, that would likely be the governmental center and a logical choice.

would be my guess. the dropport would have seen a sizeable city grow up around it catering to the crews and workers, and eventually to the populace, and the port proper likely would have housed the planetary management offices.

Per the OG Davion sourcebook, Avalon City proper was founded by Lucien Davion in the 24th century, and completed in the late 2390s.

But then there are other references in the same book (in the section about Katherine Anne Davion) that mention her being an Avalon City alderman in the 2230s-2240s timeframe as well, and that it was her policies that caused Avalon City to rapidly grow into the most cosmopolitan city not just on New Avalon but in the local stellar region, which in turn was one of the reasons why it was chosen as the capital of the FedSuns.

Finally, there is mention of an early settlement on New Avalon named Ingram, which in 2253 was the second-largest settlement on New Avalon with a population of five thousand people... until the growing Avalon City poached most of its population away.

I know none of this directly answers your question, but I thought it might at least give a little insight.

Nope. Per the OG Davion sourcebook, the theme park was specifically built on the Isle of Avalon.

I flipped through the Handbook of House Davion and the only mentions of ANY city in the early days of New Avalon were Desdemona a city of 125.000 citizens at the time and maybe Smolensk? I think of Smolensk as New Avalon was ruled by Emil Varnay when it was a possesion of the Terran alliance and he became known as the "Sadist of Smolensk" when he killed hundreds of civilians over a "civil disturbance". Unfortunately not much else is said, it just states "All those industries accounted for a mere fraction of the world's rapidly growing population who built several major cities, soon to be growing into metropolis - on every major continent"

Smolensk isn't a city on New Avalon, it's a planet in the FedSuns.

Now see, this is the type of thing where battletech's writing is realistic, cynical but realistic, most people would go "surely someone who borked an assignment that bad wouldn't be removed" but it was pretty common for people to simply be moved to a new posting far away when shit like this happened in history

The original House Book doesn't really mention anything in way of names for Capital for the planet unless one of the regional capital were the main one since the completion of Avalon City in the late 2390s.

I still trying see if mentions what colonial site was first, since Avalon City was newer(?) city

I am still going with the spaceport at Albion due to the commercial center being the first true capital.
