but... they haven't.

We haven't really seen anything in the only part of the realm that they're positioned to make actual moves. Something like half the LCAF is crammed into that wedge around Hesperus pointed at Terra. But besides that, Ludwig carved out a Dixie salient that is positioned to attack a number of key worlds in the Empire, and there's also a Wolf Empire officer on Smolnik who says that the world is the only Wolf-held planet within two jumps, which suggests they've taken back Gallery and Thuban off-camera. So it seems that they have done some stuff but we haven't been looking.

I assume that the Commonwealth will take advantage of the now defensless Wolf Empire. One of her Margraves already visited the Dragoons so I would assume they know that the Empire is just as defensless as most of the Falcon OZ. Oh yeah maybe we might get another Steiner character for the list of important persons (said Margrave who is managinmg the border with the League and Empire)

His name is General Ludwig Steiner, Grand Duke of Furillo, Margrave of Buena, Duke of Porrima, Duke-in-Exile of Tamar and Skye, Victor of Valloire, Liberator of Bolan.

I realized after the fact that I marked the wrong person.

I placed a vote for Yori Kurita but in my head it was Kitsune Kurita that I was thinking of.

Not sure if you want to reset that or not.
When there was only 1 voter it was doable, but I cannot undo someone's individual vote without resetting all votes. My hands are tied, but your post will be read in a manner assuming good faith so there is that.

I'm suddenly envisioning you following him around, carrying a banner and him being all "CSFA! Introduce me!" whenever he enters a room :)

Well, as the Landgrave von Kelestra I am quite literally... his bannerman.

Ludwig literally means loud warrior, famous warrior or loud in battle.

Sunrise is Coming.

All Hail First Prince Melissa Davion, the Patron Saint of the Regimental Combat Team, who cowed Dainmar Liao, created the Model Army, and rescued Robinson!  May her light ever guide the sons of the Suns, May our daughters ever endeavour to emulate her!

I vote Rikkard Nova Cat myself, although his story has reached its natural conclusion in a lot of ways. Still, there exists a tremendous amount of potential story for him in just how one recreates a society that's been genocided and exiled into near-annihilation several times. How is he going to restructure Clan Spirit Cat/Nova Cat society?

For the official poll

Julian Davion - A unique character by BT standards. By all rights a just and good man trying to do the right thing but being given non-stop Hobbesian choices that no matter what option he picks, he comes out looking bad. He's done more for the Fed Suns than nearly any other Prince in memory, yet he's not beloved by the people, merely blamed for continuing problems. I feel the scales of fate are being weighed against him somewhat unfairly by CGL, but it does make for interesting stories.

Kisho Nova Cat, Where is he, what's he doing, where's he going to go? Will he help Rikkard restart Clan Nova Cat?

Jonah Levin, Where is he, what's he doing, where's he going to go? How does one deal with the fall of your state on your watch? What about his family on Kervil?

I've been enjoying Jiyi Chistu, and I'm curious to see where Erik Sandoval is going...

But I REALLY, REALLY want to know what Gavin Marik-Davion is going to wind up doing.
I'm not sure how long you've been around on the forums, though you have a thousand posts. Never take anything JKlantern says seriously unless it's about food.

although with Julian they need to be careful, make things come up to him too contrived and people are going to check out of the story, as it is there is, among fedsuns fans a LOT of frustration that Erik's being made so popular despite his VERY PUBLIC failures (he was in charge when new avalon fell) while Julian who has done nothing but win so far  seems to be struggling

Almost died on New Syrtis. Lost a leg in that battle. And who actually freed Robinson? That was the Republic. And as others have said mundane governing doesn't bring you glory points when your nation is still reeling from an invasion. Erik had to basically rebuild the High Command from scratch and it wasn't his idea to loose 13 combat commands on one planet. While it is true New Avalon was lost under his watch he is also acknowledged as the one who brought down Toranaga and destroying the last of Toranaga's troops in the former Dragon's tongue. Of course the next question will be: can he actually deal with the Ravens? If Julian can handle them then those are points in his favor

Are you actually trying to use that to argue against Julian Davion's chops as a hero?
Dude, losing a limb fighting to liberate a world like new sytris is going to be seen as a definate prop for a guy, it means he's on the frontline risking his life for the nation, the fedsuns appreciates that in it's leaders.

Yes you're absolutely right, Julian freed 2 of the march capitols lost under Erik's incompetancy and Erik couldn't even reclaim his family holding without JULIAN'S republic allies doing it for him

Except we don't see Julian engaging in "mundane governing" he's leading the war effort from day one.

he wouldn't have had to if new avalon hadn't fallen. Which happened when he was regent.

No it was Caleb's idea, you know Caleb who appointed him Prince's Champion? clearly Caleb's ideas wheren't very smart

No it was Julian who took him down, Toranaga just surrendered to Erik in a transparent political ploy an idiot could see through, Erik meanwhile didn't seem to see through it.

In short yes the situation could have been worse if Erik bungled things, but "didn't completely screw up after he lost the capitol" seems a VERY strange reason to put a man on a pedestal. Frankly DD and Sword of Damocles did not do a very good job of painting Erik as anything but an egotistical little prat, obsessed with his own glory and self advancement, who seems to blame Julian for stuff that was his own damn fault.

I see what they WANT to do with Erik, the problem is, Erik's, unlikable and his popularity is baffling considering he was appointed by the old (unpopular regime) and mostly watched over an endless series of setbacks that where only reversed after Julian showed up. if they wanted to make Erik come off better they should have given the fedsuns wins and sucesses BEFORE Julian returned, so that the feeling the Julian was trying to swoop in and take credit for erik's sucesses could actually have some feeling of having a reason to exist

You are aware that the High Command was already GONE before New Avalon fell aren't you? New Avalon was free in 3145 and it feel somewhat 3146 or 3147. Erik had to deal with the fallout of MANDRAGORA (were we ever given an explanation why Claeb left Erik behind considering he took the entire High Command with him?) And from there Erik had to start from basically nothing.

Though I agree this situation feels similar to what happened to Erik when he was the subordinate of Aaron during the defense of St Andre but there it was clear he managhed at least something (shoring up the defense until aaron came in like the knight in shining armor)

I think Erik is rightly getting some glory for basically leading the Fed Suns from 3144 til Julian came back and keeping things together, but he doesn't get enough hate as Caleb's toady for almost 10 years. Perhaps Erik has some really good PR painting him as the 'lone sane advisor' to Caleb during that time, but we don't see any mention of people connecting Caleb-Erik and that feels like a crucial missing piece.

The generals getting frustrated with Julian for not winning back the Feds Suns enough also feels a bit contrived, although part of that is because Julian knew the Republic was going to come and help but couldn't reveal that as per Shattered Fortress, meaning generals knew he was hiding something and that can be frustrating.

the early days of Julian's arrival felt fine because Julian needed to prove himself, to be blunt after Caleb they didn't have automatic trust in the Davion dynasty most likely, and who knows what bullshit Caleb had ordered whispered about Julian. but by new avalon he'd liberated all most capitols. and had proven himself clearly. meanwhile yeah Erik was a CALEB APPOINTMENT, he should not be getting an easy ride, and he CERTAINLY shouldn't be havin davion guards regiments loyal to him.

I voted Julian, Jiyo, and Ignatius.

Julian: I like a character that tries to do the right thing , but the reality of leadership forces them to make choices that aren't easy or one they would prefer.

Jiyi: I like underdog factions,  and attempting to rebuild from the ashes is interesting. But I do hope they don't become a generic "good guy clan".

Finally
Ignatius: I love the Marians and think there is a lot of story potential there. Between dealing with bigger factions, and possible internal political issues I see some wide open territory story wise.
