Winter has come
« on: 25 December 2011, 07:10:15 »

Small experiment with GF9 snow and already painted minis.
Powder been dropped over flat surfaces, which I wet-brushed by banal water beforehand.
After drying show will be sticken, but easily smitten bylarge brush after photo-session.

Easy way for Snow X'mas on yous tables.  ;)

Interesting, I did not know of that stuff. I'll definitely try it in a winter diorama.
Beautiful minis of yours, too.  :)

If those mechs run at flanking speed, will they create huge snow clouds of blown snow behind them?   ;)

I have to ask: banal water is...what?

How do you seal it so the snow will stay there and stay looking that good afterwards?

GF9 snow is really easy to work with, and looks really good besides. Then again, GF9 makes good product all the way around.

I don't seal it. It's sticked barely, and rash move can ruin it.
It's one-off trick for one photo-session only. Dried water very bad adgesive, but it still can catch edges of snow caps.

So, if someone wanted it to be permanent, not just for a photo shot...how would you do it?

Layer of white paint as base, and PVA glue/white glue.  Apply doze of GF9 Snow over the glue.
Repeat with new layers of glue for 3D effect.
Then fix them by small doze of gloss varnish (spray one)

I've done a snow mix on warmachine minis by mixing water and bakind powder, then mixing in some whie glue.  it makes a goopy white mix that dries into a powdery-looking, yet fairly solid snow effect.  some of my warjacks have snow draped liberally across them and it's held up well.
