While the terrain is mine, I did not paint any of these minis. They were painted by one of the CGL demo agents at GenCon 16 whose name escapes me (else I'd give him credit). The minis were actually used in the Twycross Feature Event.

More of my pics of these minis can be seen at this link here.

Having played in a number of the CGL BattleTech events at Gen Con this year, and having been in proximity to these pre-production miniatures.....

....they can't show up fast enough, and my future wallet will cry in agony at the new company/battalion/regiment of them that is eventually delivered to my doorstep.

My only criticisms would be that the Locust is a bit bigger than I'd prefer for a 20-tonner, and the Griffin is a bit chunky for a 55-tonner.  The GRF is in line with the new Shadow Hawk, so I can get over than.  And on the LCT I get why it's the way it is, given manufacturing tolerances to make usable miniatures and whatnot, and it certainly won't stop me from owning a plague of them once they're available.

I feel for that Locust, walking face first into a clanner at point blank range.

I needs some new Marauders and Warhammers though.

Hopefully it won't be too long a wait.

The prototypes look real nice.  I look forward to being able to buy them, hopefully relatively soon.

I also look forward to seeing prototypes of other classics, particularly the Phoenix Hawk and Wolverine.

Look great!  The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the PPC on the Battlemaster; kinda liked the hand held.  But overall those are some darn nice sculpts (and they're good paint jobs too!)
When in doubt, take it out.

I think it's still a handheld PPC just like the unseen version, albeit without that double barrel look to it. The angle of the photo doesn't show it off too well, but I know on the cover of Interstellar Ops it shows the Beemer holding the PPC like a firearm.

These can't come out in metal soon enough. I like where the overall aesthetics are going with them, enough new stuff to " freshen up " the design ( and keep the legal hounds at bay - another story, another day ) while staying true to the spirit of the Mech in question. These just might become the new " standard " for said Mechs. ( Yes, I know it's CGL's intent for resolving the " Unseen/Reseen Issue ". My point is players using them to represent ANY variant of a mech, myself included who do that sort of thing. Good things the rules allow that though I can build to WYSIWYG if I choose. ) Wonder what the rest will look like. And yea, the Battlemaster looks tight.

I like the look on these, but as others have said the scale looks a bit off on them, especially for the lighter units. But that's something that could easily be fixed before production.

The minis were really awesome!  I played in the Battle of  Twycross and controlled the Griffin!  The prototype minis looked wonderful and the detail was sharp. You couldn't help but like them!

No mechs were harmed in the making/taking of the photo.  :)

I can tell you that the hand held look of the PPC was kept intact. the angle of the photo simply does not show it off very well.

Does anyone have a better picture of the griffin? From the front the cockpit looks more like a shadow hawk.

who says it'll be metal? it could just be more Alpha Strike mini's in the future.

Because the folks at IWM have fun hobbies like eating and having a roof over their heads, and such fripperies often require monetary support, metal seems like a safe guess. The fact that they've already started releasing Classics in metal is another indication.

Here's a shot from a slightly different angle, wolfspider:

Man, I love that Griffin! The head has the old unseen feel to it, like the Roundfacer in Dougram (unseen Grif), but with more characteristic of the Bushman soltic in the series. I'm glad it, the Classic Shad, and the Classic Wolvie all share similar chassis, with minor differences here and there. Plus, I noticed even the Battlemaster has a similar, albeit more muscular build to the other three.

Now I'm curious about the Thunderbolt, Goliath, and Scorpions.

Not gonna' lie, I wish it had been the Griffin over the Shadow Hawk from IWM. Shadow Hawk, I got the one that won't be in general distribution later this year. The Griffin? I would have had to get three or four of 'em.

Nice to see the classics making the table again in something other than proxy form at an official venue.

That said, can somebody tell me what version of Kit-Fox that is?

Then, somebody did a good job painting the cockpit, because my version (old one) doesn't have that kind of detailing where I've seen the cockpit depicted on that Jade Phoenix novel cover. I'm working on painting mine up that way, but it's been tough because of the sculpt. Was wondering if there was a more recent redo.

All of the 3050 Clan Omnis were resculpted some time ago. That is the current sculpt as of at least 2008.

These are truly great minis. I still hate the direction they took with the locust; being more true to the reseen than the unseen, but all of the minis are incredibly well done.

Dear Catalyst,

If money is a problem, try a Kickstarter...

While CAV didn't so good with it's second KS (although oodles of minis were ordered), BT is a far bigger property, and will probably raise a LOT more...
