America: We earned our Independence the right way. We took it by force of arms. Also, thanks to that bugtit Bonaparte being a pain in th butt to the rest of Europe, we were able to retain it.

Locally, Mother Nature put on a better show than the humans through the use of lightning and thunder. We got a much needed thunderstorm to roll in the late evening hours.

Jealous; where at?   It's idiotically hot and dry out here (Phoenix) so half the fireworks shows were replaced with (really honestly neat) flying drone shows.  30-100 of them at a time, each lit, making all kinds of patterns in the sky.  I miss the boom, though.

Lots of places here in Colorado cancelled their shows due to the high fire danger (We've got over half dozen wildfires going on). That means having Mother Nature do the work is just fine.
