So does this mean they are finishing those animated, but not rendered episodes or are they skipping those?

They're apparently finishing Bad Batch, at least based on some comments i read. Apparently some scenes or lines in the teaser are from it?

12 episodes are getting done for this "season".

I was wondering because the last scene of the trailer would hint at the fight on Mandalore which is after the Bad Batch, and I think another one (something about following what Asokha was doing after leaving the Jedi), and the Mandalore arc is a pretty critical one.  It explains where Rex was during Order 66 and why he didn't take part in the scouring of the Jedi, and is also why Asokha knows who Maul is.  At least, that's my understanding.  it's been made into a comic so some details are on wookiepedia, but I've never actually read it.

Actually the comic you're thinking of, Darth Maul Son of Dathomir, doesn't deal with the siege of Mandalore at all.

In that one, basically Sideous allows Maul to be "rescued" hoping he'll run home to momma (Mother Talzin) and lead him to her. By the end, Maul is still at large but his Shadow Collective is broken up and Talzin is dead.
I have spoken.

The Ashoka book deals with Mandalore. That book was published to tie up the clone wars.

Hopefully this is a move of Disney giving fans what they want instead of giving fans what they expect them to want.
