Melding some later tech into 3025 era games
« on: 17 March 2018, 11:00:09 »
What, if any, of the later introduced technologies would you bring into 3025-tech games to add some more tactical options and expand beyond the basics while not going too extreme into later eras?

Ignoring fluff of course, here's my initial take:

Lasers (S/M/L)

PPC

Flamers/Fluid Guns/Vehicle Flamers
-Coolant Ammo
-Water Ammo
-Inferno Ammo

Grenade Launchers
-Frag
-Incendiary
-Smoke

Thumper/Sniper/Thor/Long Tom/Unguided Arrow IV
-FASCAM
-Inferno

SRM (2/4/6)
-Inferno
-Harpoon
-Heat Seeking
-Smoke
-Tear Gas
-Mine Clearing

LRM (5/10/15/20)
-Incendiary
-Smoke
-Heat Seeking
-Mine Clearing
-Flare (these got errata’d out I think)

Autocannon (2/5/10/20) and Light Autocannon (2/5)
-Flak
-Tracer
- Armor Piercing
-Flechette
-Precision

Mech Mortars
-Airburst
-Anti-Personnel
-Armor Piercing
-Flare
-Smoke

Machine Gun/Machine Gun Array

Rocket Launchers

OS SRM/LRM

Hatchet/Sword

-Converted Industrial Mechs
-Industrial equipment

RetroTech?
MRMs?

So what are your all's thoughts? Is there something I'm missing or something in the list that you wouldn't dare add to the era?

Blazer Cannons are already 3025 tech, but a lot of people forget about them.

Artillery Cannons are similar, but have different intro dates for the different sizes.  I'd just allow them all.

Don't forget light and heavy machine guns... you already captured light autocannons.

Only quibble I’d have is precision ammo. It’s a bit too high tech for 3025.

I'd add Narc ammo for LRMs/SRMs but not Narc Launchers so it's normally useless, but if you manage to smuggle beacons inside the enemies ammo supply or something ...

MRMs should definitely be on there.  Given they are in-universe fluffed as being adapting LRM/SRM style missile feeds to use the dirt-cheap unguided rockets out of infantry disposable launchers.

Yeah I waffled back and forth on it a couple of times myself. Gyrojets do exist in 3025 as infantry weapons, but I realize they aren't exactly the same thing.

I had overlooked all of these. Thanks!

i'd use AP ammo instead. it is less used in general, and ought to be close to succession wars level tech.
