(Answered) Stacking Naval Repair Facilities
« on: 08 May 2016, 05:50:45 »

Q. Does anything in the current rules or errata - and yes, i've looked for it, though possibly not deep enough - prevent me from "stacking" naval repair facilities?

A simple example would be:
- Warship carries (6) Station 1-6 in six naval repair facilities
- Stations 1-6 carry (36) Stations 7-42 in its each six own naval repair facilities
- Stations 7-42 carry (216) Stations 43-258 in its each six own naval repair facilities
- Stations 43-258 carry (1296) Stations 259-1554 in its each six own naval repair facilities
- Stations 259-1554 carry (7776) Stations 1555-9330 in its each six own naval repair facilities
- Stations 1555-9330 carry (46656) Stations 9331-55986 in its each six own naval repair facilities
etc

At that point we'd be at a possible maximum of somewhere around 140 gigatons of mass already, and going a couple levels further would put us straight into Death Star territory.

The problem already exists with single repair bays per space unit (and thus can't be resolved by e.g. "blind faces" towards the carrier unit), as that would allow "chaining" them instead. The whole thing obviously has boundless other implications, including this.

Errata to Strategic Operations:

Jump Process (Outside of Game Play) (p. 89)
After the third paragraph (“Once a unit is committed…”) insert the following new paragraph:

At this point the jump occurs, taking the K-F drive-equipped unit along with any successfully docked external vessels (provided they have a K-F Boom and used a Docking Collar). K-F Booms only work when connected directly to the unit with the K-F Drive; otherwise, treat the vessel as if it's a ground unit landed on the hull, as per below."

Clarification Question:

Do vessels carried in:
- pressurized naval repair bays
- reinforced naval repair bays
- dropshuttle bays
- cargo bays

count as "external" or "internal" in the context of that errata?

Not sure, as we've had endless issues with the problems of nested units and jumping in the past.  Let me review this answer; I may have to pull it.
