Makes me wonder what the Rec Guide Kodiak is going to be armed with. ATM 12 and a RAC looks like a perfect fit.

Also makes me wonder how much that was a consideration.

There may be bits that I have issues with, but on the whole I consider each of these designs an improvement on their existing art, especially the Packhunter.  The Baboon is the best of the lot; It's legs are no longer comically small.

Well the new look matches up with the original stats, UAC20 and twin SRM6...

Not every redesign is getting a new variant in the rec guides, are they?

One of the stated purposes of the Rec guides was to give old mechs modern (3150) upgrades with weapon configurations matching the visual of the miniatures.

As far as we know, the only ones NOT getting new variants are the Clan Phoenix 'Mechs that haven't appeared in a TRO recently.

Yes.  Behemoth had two new variants (7 and 8), but the featured variant was the base model.  I should have been more clear.  The featured variants of the Clan Phoenix 'Mechs were said to be the original models.

Unless I'm grossly misunderstanding you...no? ???

None of the Clan machines in Project Phoenix claimed to be the original model.

Wasn't that only something that was said about them prior to the kickstarter?

In the Recognition Guides.

I swear, I'm not usually this bad at explaining.

Specifically, the mechs from older TROs that got superseded by Phoenix variants in later TROs will have their original versions featured in the Recognition guide.

So things like the Stone Rhino or Marauder IIC will have their original configurations featured, but will (may?) have new configurations appear as record sheets.

At least that's how I understood it.

My understanding based solely on the two Guides we have so far is that in addition to the original model and maybe a couple extras, we'll also get a new variant.

The original seems to be the featured model in the TRO write ups, but there are new variants, including at least one that matches gun ports like the omnis.

The pattern seems to be covering the original, covering any variants that have been printed without getting TRO write-ups, and covering one or two new models.

I quite like the Ad Hoc star upgrades. (or - in the case of the Pack Hunter and Hellion - I find them less objectionable than their forerunners)

I might prefer the Fire Falcon's missiles to be a tad smaller in proportion to the rest of the machine, but... close enough. I'll take it.

I quite like the new Kodiak. To me, the head still looks very bear-like. (Not all that different than some of the existing renderings) The existing IWM sculpt looks more like Teddy Ruxpin with an autocannon implanted in his chest, which will make a new mini very welcome.

So, I just got an e-mail telling me I still need to do my character survey that I did like 2 months ago.  ???   Do I do it again (and hope this time they've fixed the errors in the questions) or is this a mistake e-mail that everyone is getting?

Not a mistake e-mail. If you've done the survey before, though, no need to do it again.

Probably worth looking on characters.battletech.com to see if it’s there (if you haven’t already)

I have no idea. But if you submitted your character a while back it’s a place to start

Tell me what errors you think you've found.

Been awhile so I can't remember everything. I know I posted about it in one of the kickstarter threads here, but I can't to find it.  The big one I do remember is after selecting the Republic I was asked to chose which periphery nation I came from originally.  First, it's odd that being born into the republic wasn't an option, and second, why did you have to come from the periphery and not a great house?  I figure it had to be an error because the whole story line during the wizkids era of the Dark Age was former citizens of the great houses raising their old flags across RotS space.

Second thing I guess really wasn't an error, but it seemed unfortunate to me that your options for your faction(s) was limited to either 1 nation or any nation.  A check box allowing you to choose multiple nations while avoiding others could have worked better.  For example, in my case, I really didn't want CC or FWL, but I was cool with any of the other great houses, even solaris jock or merc.  To insure I avoided CC or FWL, my only option really was to pick one nation(I went RotS).  Since I picked one, I'll likely have to wait longer since I had to severally narrow the field even though there's several others I was okay with.   Just in case, I added all that and my desire to not be from the periphery in the final free-for-all slot of the survey.

Is there a way to double check to see that my survey did successfully go through?

New question for you Cubby, maybe you can help as I have not seen an answer yet to my question on the KS page.

I have two backings, under two different emails, one for a character with picture (yes I'm vain :P) and the second a recently backed Star Colonel level I wish to turn into credit. How do I distinguish between the two for the survey?

I'm fairly certain I know which email I used when doing the intial survey, but if it was the email I think I used filling it out, it's not the same email I used when I back at Galaxy commander level.

i.e. I have certain 'junk emails' i've used in the past, and unfortunately one of these was used when I set up a KS account a decade ago when KS was new, and I did;t 'fully' trust it. It's under that account I backed during KS, and got my inital survey (and the new request to do it).

Because question 4 is:
Quote
What is your name (not your desired character name) and your primary e-mail address?
So, is there a way to distinguish which KS backing the character is for?

Has anyone created a topic with all of the new mech designs pinned as they are released on this forum?? It would be much easier to browse the new mech artwork collected here than on the KS page where I have to load 10 updates at a time and each time I close one it starts me back at the newest post again...  :D
