(Answered UPDATED) SPA: Fist Fire & Melee Master
« on: 18 December 2014, 04:43:58 »
I have a number of questions about these two SPA in particular that I don't feel have been adequately addressed quite yet.

Fist Fire:
1. Is a full set of actuators really necessary? I ask because you can Punch so long as you have a shoulder and upper arm actuator, albeit less effectively. And if yes, does that also mean damage could prevent the use of this SPA? Beyond the obvious point of no longer having a functioning arm.

2. In the case of a Punch attack which may include either one or both fists, in the case one chooses to attack with both fists does one "... fires one (and only one) of the arm-mounted weapons..." from only one of the arms, or one arm-mounted weapon from each of the arms?

Melee Master:
3. Since a Punch attack can include either one or both fists, does the "... one extra punch ... attack... " include only one fist or possibly both fists? I'm thinking possibly both but just wanted to double check.

Fist Fire & Melee Master:
4. Given that both of these SPA share a requirement with the Melee Specialist SPA, one would think that there may be some intended synergy built here. So my question is, is there supposed to be synergy between these two SPA? And by synergy I mean, if the answer to question 2 was "one from each arm" rather than "only one" and if you had both these SPA, two viable weapons mounted on each arm for a total of four, and chose to Punch twice, would you be able to benefit from Fist Fire for each of the four arm-mounted weapons?

Hi,

What it sounds like you're ultimately asking is, can these SPAs be used together to deliver up to four times the number of punches per turn, plus four arm guns (again per turn), for the pinnacle of point-blank savagery. Am I right here?

That is my main question, yes.

Additionally:

Does damage to one's Hand Actuators negate the benefit of Fist Fire?

Well, then.

In the interests of sanity...

1. No, full actuator sets are not necessary, but remember that the punch damage is reduced based on the missing actuators. Lose either the shoulder or upper arm actuator, and you lose the ability to punch (and with it, Fist Fire)

2. We're going to call this one (and only one) of the arm-mounted weapons used in the punch attack, regardless of the number of arms used.

3. Since a Punch attack can include either one or both fists, does the "... one extra punch ... attack... " include only one fist or possibly both fists? I'm thinking possibly both but just wanted to double check.

The one extra punch attack is only one fist.

Using the two together, you would be able to get two punch attacks, each with a single arm weapon added in. Not an unCatly four punches in total.

Ok, understood. So at max 3 "Fists" of which 2 benefit from Fist Fire, one for each arm. Correct?

Since I have the power now:

4 (not 3) punches. Each Punch Attack comes with 2.
2 of those 4 can benefit from a weapon, but NOT the same weapon, and obviously only if none of those weapons have been used in the Weapons Phase, *AND* that the arms used in the Punches are not used in the Weapons Phase.

The solution is just ignore Paul.
