HEMTT A6 Medium Truck
« on: 14 March 2011, 20:21:16 »
Well every house military needs to move stuff so here's a B-tech counter part to the "HEMTT" truck (M977 A4 base) used by the US army.

The HEMTT A6 is the current version of an old Starleage era medium tactical truck, it is currently in use by most house military's. Though largely ignored and unsung by the media, military logistic units play a vital role in any army, so much so that in more than one battle a superior army has lost due to low supplies (I.e. some of the Clans at Tukayyid).

Like most logistical units the HEMTT is not built for combat, as such it's mostly equipped for defense from small arms, it's sole armament is a single light pintle mount above the cab. The HEMTT has a maximum speed of 119kph on roads thanks to its 1,150 kilowatt fuel cell engine (Though some crews have been known to move at speeds above 150kph). With an operating range of up to 952km from it's fuel cell allows to go almost any where it is needed. It's internal carrying capacity is average for units in it's class, what makes the HEMTT stand out is the inclusion of a crane on most units, making loading and unloading easier and quicker It also is equipped to tow a cargo trailer with a max weight of 32 tons.

Variants: The A6 replaced the older A5 in use after being introduced in 3032 (though many older models remain in use with Merc and periphery use). The A5 differed largely by using a lower tech base for the Succession wars, it had 2.5 tons less cargo, a shorter range and was slightly less protected and was introduced in 2873. The Lyran Alliance has recently introduced a new model, using improved manufacturing ability's, they upped the cargo capacity to 16 tons, improving the range of the fuel cell by 75km and improving the defensive capability some what, but it will be some time before it replaces the older models in most units.

yeah
been going to make a truck with an onboard cargo of ten tons
and a trailer with a 20 ton limit to handle standard cargo pods

want to make it hover it possible, for some reason I want every vehicle in my
mythical force to be hover, even the thumpers and drone carriers :-)

lot harder to track a force that doesnt leave major tracks
