this looks like one of those movies where I will be half asleep untill someone says 'fire'; then I wake for the 30 seconds of stuff blowing up, before repeating the process.

Honestly, there are 2 parts of that trailer that are interesting: the chick in the bikini, and the battleship letting go with the 16s. Otherwise, I couldn't care less.

Wow... Really?   I'm sure some "die hard" Battleship junkie will be there to see this, but come on.   I wouldn't even know where to start tearing this one apart.  I guess no one told them that there are no commissioned battleships left, but I'm sure that they'll find a way around that.
 I can already see that "plot" device: nothing else has worked!  We're all doomed!  What will save us?  I don't know... let's go bet this battleship that's just sitting there and use that against them because I'm sure that it has all the powder and shells we'll need to kill this alien threat.  Seriously, Hollywood.  Seriously.
They make this instead of going ahead with the Rifts movie that is forever in limbo.  To say I'm disappointed with Hollywood is an understatement.

For real. They do not SAY it is based on RESER, but there is a shot in the trailer of a red and blue robot boxing each other, and blue one wins by knocking the head off the red one...

Couldn't that just be a genre-savvy homage, rather than being blatently ripping-off?  As I understand, the movie will be more about a washed-up boxer teaching his son's robot to fight, making the human more important than the robot.

It's actually just a reference to RESER (though it certainly does seem like it is being marketed as being based on the game, judging by the trailer). The film itself is based on a Richard Matheson short story, though a great deal was changed.

Hollywood appears to have run out of ideas, movies based on video games, didn't they learn from the horror that was Super Mario Brothers? Now they need to do board games, I weep for the future of cinema entertainment.

Actually, I will say that some movies of video games work. Silent Hill, while um... not great, wasn't a bad movie, and added a couple elements to the games themselves. And Doom, while a bad movie, was better for me than Doom3...

first mortal kombat was a good film  at least enjoyable.. forget the second one that one didn't exist.. I have like the resident evil series.. sue me i like it.  wish DOA was better and I will pretend i never saw bloodrayne
