There is a group of guys that usually shows up at a series of conventions hosted by an organization called Historical Miniatures Gaming Society (HMGS).

The cons that HMGS runs are Cold Wars in March, Historicon in July and Fall In that is in November.  Those cons have normally been held in Lancaster, PA but in recent years have had to hop around to different venues for various reasons.

Official capacity?  I think there is 3-4 total they goto in a year.  Unofficial is whomever wants to run a game at any given show.

From 2018-2019

March - GaryCon (Lake Geneva WI)
April - Adepticon (Chicago IL)
June - Origins (Columbus OH)
Aug - Gencon (Indianapolis IN)
Sept - Pax Prime (Seattle Wa)
Dec - Mechcon  (Vancouver Canada)

These are only the conventions where Catalyst had a retail booth, obviously there are many more where there are Battletech demos, but no Catalyst retail booth.

Pax South (San Antonio) has CDT demos, Catalyst booth might be added next year
Pax East  (Boston) previously had a Catalyst booth, but in 2019 only a Wishes booth with some Catalyst merchandise, but no demos

This year only Pax West and GenCon.
Although the Demo Team is at Origins, but no booth this year
