Rainbow Wolverine
« on: 25 June 2020, 18:28:30 »
My 4-year old asked me to paint him one of these "robots".  I asked him what color, and he said "rainbow".  Oh great, I thought he was going to say "red" because that's how he likes his semi trucks.  But he's been getting into coloring, and a recent book we read had rainbows in it...

I have an airbrush so it was fine and actually quite a lot of fun.  I kinda ran out of space at the bottom, and tried to make up for it with some giant amethysts carved out of old GW sprues, the ones that were trapezoidal in cross-section.  Speaking of purple, fun fact!  Purple/violet wash seems to work well on every color of the rainbow.  I'm going to start using it everywhere.  I knew it was good on red, but I kept using it and liked the results.

Thanks, everyone!

I cheated the blending by airbrushing the base coat - I don't think I could do it by hand!

Taking a break to do something wild was really helpful, I totally recommend it.

That is one heck of a model! The colors came out super smooth and the amethyst shards were definitely the right call.
