Miniature of the Fortnight #62: Trebuchet
« on: 13 February 2019, 22:46:23 »
Ah, the Trebuchet, another primarily missile 'Mech hailing from the Technical Readout: 3025 days.  If you're a fan of the French language, it's even the coolest sounding of them.  If you're not, I'm sure plenty of trenches need buckets.  There doesn't seem to be a modern 'Mech of the Week article for the Trebuchet so use it similar to how you'd use a Catapult or an Archer, I guess?

The Trebuchet has had five renditions so far:
  • The original sculpt with what looks like an LRM-5 on the arm, now OOP (20-887).
  • The PlasTech sculpt, which I've never seen myself.  I hope someone else can talk about it.
  • The metal resculpt (20-901).  The most significant differences are the missile launchers, particularly since the arm now sports an LRM-15.
  • The beginner's set sculpt, which is based on the original sculpt.
  • The plastic sculpt released in the prior two intro boxes, based on the beginner's set sculpt, and in the Fire Lance lance pack.

If you have any Trebuchets painted, please share pictures.  ('Mechs, not medieval siege weapons, please.)  We'd love to see them!

As always, thank you for reading!  And a special thank you to those who post pictures!

Our next two fortnights will be:
  • Clan (2/25): Phoenix Hawk IIC
  • Inner Sphere (3/11): Hatchetman

The poor man's Catapult. :)  Though I don't frown upon it one bit.  I've been on the receiving end of one more than once. :(

I have two minis for the Trebuchet.  One of the newer metal sculpt, 1st Marik Militia.  And one from the AS lance packs, Illician Lancers, 9th Rangers.

Here's my Team Purple Trebuchet.

Note: Will also have one for Team Green, too, soon.
Note 2: Also working on a Micro/Map Scale version. Taking some liberty with this one and using the phoenix LRM cylinder arm of the Crusader approach to the left arm. Like that a lot better than the box on the wrist version that we have.
