Red tails.

A story worth making a movie about.
But not this corny thing.
Flat and predictable characters all around, bad dialogue and plot development that you can spot a mile away. Air action is nice-ish, but you can skip the rest of the movie.

Best line is the german ace (that has a flagpole up his posterior during the whole movie) telling his squadron "These are rookies, show no mercy" and then the "rookie" main characters drop the german veterans 8-0 in the engagement.

Red tails and Tuskgee airmen are imo two of the better WW2 focused air combat movies...

I can't remember which one, but Bronsons character had to order some super high powered pistol, just to shoot a guy in the back at 10 yards.  The 80s and 90s where every hero needed a Deagle or .44 Automag.

They had to do something to get interest in the Deagle.

Abigail (2024) The sneak preview pretty much spoiled the whole movie (what is it with previews spoiling everything these days?), so I didnt have high hopes for this (I only watched it because I ran out of stuff on my streaming queue), but it turned out slightly better than expected. The story is about a bunch of rogues who set out to kidnap a young girl, but soon have the tables turned on them is pretty formulaic, but there were enough twists in it to hold my attention, even though it does drag a bit. In the end, its not bad- for the genre. Plenty of gore. Rating 6/10

The Dead Don't Hurt (2024) I love westerns, and since this was a Viggo Mortensen directed movie I was looking forward to seeing it, but it came out as disappointing. It's about a headstrong woman who meets her soulmate in the Wild West, while being menaced by the evil son of a rich man in town. The whole movie is way too long and the constant flashbacks proved irritating. The ending was unsatisfying, and a little too artsy-fartsy. Rating 4/10

Batman: Caped Crusader, the new animated series on Amazon Prime.  Really digging how much it looks like an updated version of TAS.

Having finished my blu-ray complete tv series collection of Babylon 5, and caught myself up on The Ark season 2, I’m now watching my blu-ray collection of Batman the Animated Series.

Finished Batman: Caped Crusader.  Well, the first season anyway.

It's decent.  Got some weird changes in it.  Part of that is the shift to setting it in the 40s, but part is just "well, that was a change" kind of stuff.  The rate at which characters were killed off makes me think that they're definitely not planning to make it a very long-running show.

Currently doing a re-watch of the old show Heroes..  Still holds up well, compared to some modern sci-fi/mutant shows..
Pity the library though, doesn't have its sequel, heroes reborn.

Horizon Part 1 (2024) Kevin Costner's 3 hour epic... of what? While it's got characters, they're so shallow that you don't care whether they live or die or anything else. There's not much of a story either, other then people going someplace and trying to Westernize it, and the ones trying to stop them. Good to look at but that's pretty much it. Rating 3.5/10.

Latest Futurama (the NFT episode) and I guess I have the same complaint just about everyone else: the episodes are much more fun when they don't revolve around "current events" like Simpsons. That prompted me to re[^n]watch the first two episodes yet again
