Pros/cons for all stealth systems
« on: 13 March 2019, 10:22:51 »
I've been thinking about writing and article that compares Null Sig, Chameleon, Stealth Armor and Void Sig, but in order to discuss these systems, I'll basically have to explain the full usage rules.  Is there any guidance for how much such information can go into a post?

Apollo's Law- if it needs Clan tech to make it useable, It doesn't deserve those resources in the first place.
Sure it isn't the most practical 'mech ever designed, but it's a hundred ton axe-murderer. If loving that is wrong I don't wanna be right.

If your article is everything a player needs to use the gear, no longer needing the rulebook, it's too much. My advice would be to leave out hard numbers in terms of modifiers. Tell folks that Stealth Armor adds a modifier at medium range and a worse one at long, but leave the actual numbers out. Give folks enough info to get an idea of things and talk about them, but still need the rulebook to actually play.

Pretty much what Weirdo said.  'Mechs are one thing but posting what amounts to the full rules on the official board is a bit much.  This needs to be a high level overview and tactical guideline.

There's plenty of ground there, too - the differences in how the stealth systems operate (especially VSS) imposes a lot of tactical considerations that can differ dramatically between the stealth models.  Knowing how they differ (and which ones fit their play style) can help players figure out how to incorporate this stuff into their games, although everything but stealth armor is rather rare.
