Special Archive Return March 2011 Poll
« on: 22 March 2011, 18:02:57 »
Here is the new poll  to be vote on five different Archive products, I got a week delayed on this due to coming back from a convention and leaving last weekend for family visit. The top two at the end of the poll will be available on the website as Online Exclusives for purchase without the Archive fee. So this poll will expire around the end of March 2011 and the top two Archive Products will return for sale without the Archive fee for April 2011.

Just looked on the IWM website and the dark age one doesn't seem to be archived so it is the original version that the poll is about.

Wouldn't that be a time when the archive fee isn't so much of a problem? Sure, it's still about an extra $1.25 per mini, but that's far less than if you wanted only one or two of an archived mini.

I'll go with the Firestarter, I only have one right now and I have at least one Nightstar I haven't painted. Plus the Nightstar was in the Archives for the longest time at the original price so if someone didn't get it they weren't looking for one.

aince I own every mini, all of my voting in these polls will be based on which of the represented minis I feel is the better made.  The Firestarter is easily the best sculpted of these minis, having been done at a time when all of the minis were richly detailed and in scale with each other.  The other three 'Mechs are in need (in the Lanner's case DIRE need) of a resculpt, and the Fury tank can be subbed out with a random square chunk of metal and with a nail on top and no one would no the difference.  Go FlamethrowerMech!

Wow what a lacking list of choices. The Lanner just needs help and the Slinger's art makes it look like an over inflated michelin man. While the Night star on paper is one of my favorites the figure is sadly in need of a resculpt. Its so far out of scale with what its supposed to be. The new crop of marauders all dwarf it. Luckily I found a great proxy which I shall not name here.

The nightstar looks exactly like the tro. My problem with it is the legs. They are just too scrawny. I swapped them out with a mad IIc legs and it looks great...Atleast to me it does lol.

I got a few Nightstars, like I said before, for the longest time they were in the Archives still under the original price so I picked some up a few months back. I think I got 3 at the moment. One in SLDF colors, 1st FedSuns Lancers colors, and 1 in a urban camo scheme.

I explained my voting logic in the last poll.  I'll always vote for the best existing sculpt, even if it's not the 'Mech with the best game stats.  Of all the minis on the last poll, the Firestarter was the best sculpted.  The Nightstar, Gunslinger and Black Lanner will all benefit from a resculpt, so I'd rather see that done for them than a return of a sculpt that isn't that great.

I agree about the Nightstar, I held off buying one because of the poor sculpt but ever since it went archived I was sad not to have picked one up.

I still don't like it but it's too useful a mech to pass up.

The same could be said of the Gunslinger but I just CANNOT get past it's little twiggy chicken arms.

So I'm just wondering what's wrong with the nightstar? Other than it's small for it's tonage?

It's only a two-piece mini that can't be posed.  It's arm joints are very weak and tend to break, sometimes even while it's still in the blister.  It has very little detail, even less than the art would suggest.  Of course, the art is not exactly up to 7th grade levels, either.

So its a problem with the art mainly? The thing looks exactly like the art in the tro. Or is it more that it isn't poseable and the arms are weak? I can agree with the last part alto I've never had broken arms on one yet.

Speck,

Let me suggest that you put the Tundra Wolf in your next poll.  It's a great mini with incredible game stats, and now that it's finally gotten TRO treatment, it's bound to be more popular.

Actually, I would suggest to put some TRO 3085 (Supplemental) units in there more often. The TRO treatment should be good for all of them.
