TLDR version: want some advice or house rules on using aerial units such as fighters directly on the table in games of QS so that I can see more use of the miniatures we have for them.

My group has recently begun the limited use of Aerospace units alongside artillery units. However we've seen very little use of fighters compared to artillery. One of the reasons is that Quick Strike uses the abstract system for air units which relegates them to a place that tends to make them less fun to use in miniatures as they become little more than an off board artillery attack that can be intercepted by other off board units.

So I've begun pondering ways of using them directly on the tabletop in games of Quick Strike so that the miniatures can be used and they can seem to take a more direct part in the battle.

So does anyone here have any tips, house rules, ancedotes, etc on using aerospace fighters and other air units directly on the map in games of Quick Strike? I've got a few of my own ideas but I'd like to see what others think before I begin laying down a long list of house rules I was tinkering with.

Use the Battleforce rules for fighters?
My wife writes books

Well that's what I've been planning to use as a base. Though I wasn't going to bother with tracking velocity or distance required to turn.

But I still have yet to determine how far each point of velocity should let someone move, and if they can expend thrust to turn faster.

My initial plan was a flat 10" of movement per point, followed by a single 45 degree turn, and then maybe allowing a fighter to add an extra turn every five inches by expending another point of thrust. This would let smaller faster fighters cover far more ground while also permitting them to bank faster so that they don't fly off the table to easily.

Since many of my group are relative newbs who don't own their own books and must thus be taught any new rules I need to keep things as close to regular QS as possible. Mostly so that they can pick it up and remember it easiy. But also so that I can fit the rules onto a small card if I needed to type them out.
