Rules and record sheets for warships?
« on: 28 January 2019, 22:08:40 »
Greetings, after doing a some serious googling I can not for the life of me figure out where the rules for these are, or where I would get record sheets for them. I kind of want to have a few stars of the Diamond Shark fleet but it's harder to justify buying them if I couldn't use them in any game ever.

well, it is a mess.  I'm not warship expert, but my understanding is:
Rules are scattered through TW, TO and SO.  Basically I think you need all three to do warships. SO has most warship specific rules, but since it builds on dropships and aerospace, which are covered in TW/TO, you'd need all three to have all the rules.
Record Sheets, there's been no mass update since Aerotech.  There's a few scattered in various Jihad Turning Points.  For the rest (most) you will have to go back to TR 3057R and/or Record Sheets Aerotech 2, both of which have been out of print for forever.

That link, while official, is wrong!

Thing is, there is a recordsheet available.

I gather you mean eBay when you say "evilbay" but what are you talking about with "the smiling box"?

Probably Amazon. Some folks are under the false impression that you're not allowed to mention those sites on this forum. Others think vague slang is funnier than conveying information.

HM Aero is also an option, if you can get it. Sadly it is also not available or update for years.
SSW was never expanded for warships. MechFactory seems to have RS for all known ships. But not sure if that source is validated.
And for ASF wings there are no sources anyway as far as i know.

For the rule set it is very sad to have all needed rules for warship conflict spread over 3 books. If you can get an old copy of the AT2 revised book, that might help as the rules haven't changed that much i think.

Probably Amazon.

That makes much more sense than Progressive.com.

i dunno how different construction / combat rules are between aerotech2 and the current standard, but this exists and is on Amazon (and still for reasonable prices, if you consider $15-25 reasonable)

the pdf of rulebook for aerotech2 is sold by CGL https://store.catalystgamelabs.com/products/battletech-aerotech-2-revised-1

the paper version can be had for around $25 on amazon as well

You bought the box set and are ready to expand your bt experience. Now what? | Modern Sourcebook Index | FASA Sourcebook Index | Print on Demand Index

I know the rules have changed with the switch in Tech Manual to round down instead of round up, this means the Monolith is once again illegal. IO may also be considered a stealth change to these rules, raising the mass ceiling for JumpShips from 500,000 to 1.8 million, meaning you can build a JumpShip that can transport an insane 36 DropShips.
