Our Agent running a Chaos Campaign for the local group tries to post up teaser/briefings as part of the game notification so players know what to expect.  He just used one of the greatest jinxes known to military operations- 'resistance is expected to be light.'

Right after you hear that you end up seeing this . . .


What are other favorite briefing phrases that mean you expect the opposite?  Like 'we expect good weather for this operation/exercise.'

'Close' only counts in horseshoes and strategic weapons.  We haven't seen them deploy either.

The greatest campaign blunder I witnessed was one player planting a mistress agent with another player only to have her turn double agent and feed bad information that led to the loss of half the meddler’s mechs

Allegedly my own agents on the scene turned her but the ministry of information vehemently denies the existence of intelligence assets outside of sovereign borders so...

While that was the most widely known version of that . . . wasn't it also said of the US Civil War, maybe more on the part of the South?

But yeah, 'a short, victorious war' is usually neither after all is said and done.

'The command has enough of Supply X for the duration of the operation/deployment.'  Supply X is the first thing you are running short of . . .

Normally, supply X would be water, food or toilet paper.  ::) fuel and ammo is also Murphy's gift in the middle of a campain.

Heh. I have a CN9-A in a chaos campaign that’s about to run out of ammo in the next fight. That’s never happened to a centurion for me.

My uncle (nam vet) always told me military intelligence was an oxymoron. I suspect it was mostly to annoy his brother, who was in intelligence

Also that the total amount of blood spilled in the war would be cleaned up with a single handkerchief.

A statement I found odd given the amount of violence that had been occurring in the country for more than a decade leading up to the war.
