Pink Foam Board...
« on: 18 April 2011, 23:51:45 »
Needing some "steep" terrain and having some time to kill I went to the home depot and bought 2" foam board...

What I have learned to date....This work was done during the first episode of "Game of Thrones" (two pieces about the same size)

Foam board is scored so you can put a piece in the trunk of a Ford Focus....

Second...it is pretty easy to use Heroscape hexes to make hex impressions....

So what are your plans from here?  Using Heroscape tiles myself, I'm always watching to see how others create their terrain.

Next step....

Simple is proving to be the most effective, I will move on to some more detailing as time allows....

Relatively cheap too...$14 for a 4' x 8' sheet of R10 foam board, $30 for a foam cutter at Hobby Lobby (which is less of a pain than building a custom unit), $9 for paint and maybe some flock.

The key to impressing the hexes has been using a block of Heroscape singles and then firmly pressing them into the foam.  Cutting after impressing the hexes has worked OK.  Impressing after cutting may work better and with the remaining material (quite a bit) is what my next line of experiments will be.

Using Heroscape to make hex impressions is brilliant!  I use this stuff, and the blue stuff all the time to make terrain.
