What is Museum Scale
« on: 16 July 2011, 01:16:49 »
Simple question, hoping for a simple answer. For a more complicated one, how do they look next to 15mm troopers?

Ask and ye shall receive. About 8 cm top to bottom.

Thanks for the pic, but I was asking about 15mm minis not 6mm infantry.

You know, Flames of War scale?

I like 15mm Scifi.

I've been wondering about the museum scales as well.  Specifically in regards to how well they stand against the clickymechs and other N-scale stuff.

I have a beat-up and in severe need of re-doing Vulture museum sculpt at home- I'll try to get it next to a MWDA Vulture IV and an IWM Vulture (both sculpts) tonight when I get home from work.

A gift from Ben Rome when I first moved out here- it got beat up in one of my many moves since, and hasn't been high on the priority list behind Battletech-scale minis. But it isn't forgotten- needs stripping and some damage repaired, but after that priming and painting won't be too hard.

Took the photo on my phone of the museum scale next to a DA Vulture IV, an IWM Vulture resculpt, and the original sculpt just because it seemed fun. I'll have it up once I find the transfer cable, but that may have to be this evening if I run low on time before leaving for work.

OK, couldn't find the cable, so Plan B was to E-mail it to myself and upload from there. Apologies for the poor quality, but it's what I had to work with early in the morning.

Looks like your museum scale needs a cast.  A lot of people have said theirs are broken are they that fragile?

Museum scale is about 12mm

Could someone with the Museum Scale models measure them for us??  That way we have something to go on for scaling them to 15mm figures. Please don't include the base in the heights.

Thanks

A fellow could almost be offended when he already gave you the scaling for them. They are 1/144 (12mm) not 1/100 (15mm). Doesn't mean you can't fudge it though. ;)

Not including base.

3.0" for the Vulture
3.25" for the Zeus

Hmm, thanks.  Seems it's slightly bigger than I'd anticipated, but might work well enough.

Keep in mind that the original infantry for battletech, the new specialist infantry, as well as most of the battlearmor was sculpted in N-scale for better detail. Mechs are bigger than they appear if you are used to those things representing PBI's.

If you want smaller machines for your forces then the regular DA plastic minis should work well and they are way cheaper.

A comparison pic would also be nice... from someone..,

You have no idea how badly that fact pisses me off... [tickedoff]

It's an issue of wanting to eye it to see if they're close enough.
