In more positive news, TESS has detected an Earth sized planet around a star 53 light years away.  The new exoplanet otbits too close to its primary for life as we know it, but the finding is a good sign for our newest exoplanet finder, and encouraging for what the future holds for new discoveries.

Read more about it here...

Wrangler,  is that pic the Falcon Heavy core or the Falcon 9 first stage that landed just offshore at the Cape last year?

From what I've seen the hold down device that is on the drone ship won't work with the Heavy core. Sounds like it's time for them to modify it.
This picture was take of the current Center Core that landed couple days ago.  It tipped over in rough seas.  The other one they didn't find much of it left to be floated back from what i read.

Next Cygnus space craft is posed to launch today. I read in article the improvements to the Cygnus, there mentions that Northrop Grumman has contract to design potential modules for the Gateway space station based on the Cygnus. It certainly speed process up. I'm sort disappointed that .. Bigelow Space hasn't been mentioned.  The inflated module builder.

I second that about no one getting hurt.  The private companies have been blessed by good luck while testing their products.

That and sixty years of knowing what NOT to do in tests.  Apollo 1 was downright insane, when you look at it from modern safety hindsight.

The problem with Bigelow modules is that they only provide "raw space". You need to outfit them after inflating them. That means you'll need to send up the internal outfit separately, and you need to have a crew in place to do it. That's doable in LEO, but not quite so farther out.

BEAM on ISS is used for storing trash.

Video has surfaced of the test stand (poor quality vertical; so probably someone sharing before SpaceX is ready). The capsule was destroyed instantly. Scott Manley is speculating a tank rupture because it's so fast.

After watching the video, it's total redesign their looking at.  The capsule didn't have that issue when they originally tested the super dracos.  What tragic thing for the space program.  I guess Russians going get more contracts after 2019 after all.

If Boeing can figure out what their doing wrong, they could become superior capsule, because their escape rocket isn't part capsule.

I saw somewhere that was the Demo-1 capsule that flew to the station back in March and was supposed to be used for the launch abort test in June.  It doesn't have the toasty marshmellow look the capsule did when it was fished out of the ocean, but I'm sure they would have reconditioned it if it was.  I'm sure this will set them back some even if it isn't that one.

Come get your posters!  Seriously, this is some exceptionally high-res imagery of the planets and moons; if you have a favorite come and get it.  NASA put it all together for people to make their own posters.

Is it wrong that I intend to alter one of the Europa ones so that the smaller text reads "ATTEMPT NO LANDING THERE."?

New Shepard suborbital had it's 5th successful test fight the other day, (5/2/2019).   After the launch, they mentioned they will likely fly passengers this year.

The test flight was carrying micro-gravity experiments.

I'm curious how long it will be till they able start testing their bigger orbital space graft, the New Glenn.

Researchers dubbed this the eXtreme Deep Field. All in all, Hubble reveals an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the universe or so, but this number is likely to increase to about 200 billion as telescope technology in space improves, Livio told Space.com.

Blue Origin unvailed its new lunar lander that runs on liquid hydrogen propelant.  If all goes as plannned, the hope is to have boots onthe lunar ground by 2024.

Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezzos feels the future of human kind is still on earth, but we must reach out in order to better life here.  The moon is a ventral piece for jumping further off.

Right.  Most people aren't as interested in colonizing the planets and stars.  But reminding folks that the potential wealth of space exploration and exploitation will positively affect the daily lives here puts it in a more favorable light.

Blue Origin manages to get the lander to work, i'm find with that.  I do find the timing suspect.  Were they doing the planning for the lander for the entire time?  Since time of the timing of the announcement this year of the new target date, Locheed has been trying to brain storm a way to rush to get their lander proposal ready by the dead line, while trying dodge issues it likely will cost a lot.  Executive branch throw things out wack when they push up the time table.  Likely the Lander will not be refuelable aka reusable, thus costing more to keep in serial production because of the rush.  To be honest its confusing to me how these proposed vehicle are suppose to be. One report a 2 part vehicle, then now a 3 part vehicle.

Either case i hope it works out.  I'd thought maybe the Blue Origins Lander, Blue Moon, could act like a Delivery drone, with it's landing stage being reusable/repurposable for both cargo and passengers changing the top part of it.
