Charger-6E
« on: 16 November 2019, 19:03:13 »
Background Fluff:
Fighting in the chaos march area against CapCon Home Guard units lead to several old Charger (A1, 1L, & A5 models) chassis being salvaged.
Later in the campaign a supply depot was captured and examples of new weapons prototypes were included.
Records show these were originally intended for use in testing Omni-Pod configurations under field conditions.
Captain Pat Toshiba commander of the technical support group suggested using them to refit the older model chassis to get replacement mechs with new upgraded weapons packages into the field.
With several chassis to work with the Captain & his staff worked up technical specs to create a powerful new Heavy Striker unit.

Focusing on the Charger's origins as a "Heavy Recon" & "Close Assault" unit the technicians worked to combine both roles onto the same platform.

The 400 rated engines were removed for the lighter 320 on the A1/1L models using spare stock from the unit's supply of Victor & Zeus replacement parts.
Jumpjets were also added to give the Charger enough mobility to match the successful Victor class mechs.
Weapons were taken from the captured supply depot & installed to match the original 5 weapon ports across the arms, torso, & head.
A full suite of electronics allow the Chargers to screen friendly forces, search out the enemy, & spot for fire support units.
Finally, the newest armor composites are used to sheath the mech in maximum protection.

Captain Toshiba's customized Charger 6E's were able to be battle ready in time to push on the final enemy strong point around the space port.
Used by several pilots who had been forced to eject & were dispossessed in earlier battles the new Charger configuration excelled in the urban environment.
Able to navigate rough terrain, withstand considerable punishment, & clear the area of stubborn dug in enemy troops, the Charger's were noted as key contributors in after action reviews.
Captain Pat Toshiba received a letter of commendation & the technical specs were forwarded up to area HQ for possible wide spread use.

That's more than nasty enough to merit a new name...  "Charger" simply doesn't do it justice... ^-^
