Garrison Air Defense Platforms and support weapons
« on: 25 July 2013, 12:48:21 »
Frontline units have a wide variety of air defense vehicles and mechs at their disposal.   Defensive garrisons though tend to have little access to frontline vehicles and have to depend on other means to keep their skies relatively clear of the ASFs of an invading force.

The lowest on the totem pole would be a humble light vehicle, a mere 35 tons tracked vehicle.

Code: [Select]
Name - ADT-1
35 Tons – Tracked
Internal Structure – 3.5 tons
Engine – 140 Fuel Cell – 6 tons
Cruise – 4
Flank – 6
Control Equipment – 1.75
Turret – 1.5 tons
Armor – 5.25 tons
Front - 25
Sides – 12/12
Rear - 11
Turret - 24

Weapon
AC/2 - Turret – 6 tons
AC/2 – Turret - 6 tons
AC/2 Ammo (50 Flak) – 1 ton
Thunderbolt-5 - Turret – 3 tons
Thunderbolt-5 Ammo (12) – 1 ton
Anti-Aircraft Targeting System – 0 tons (-1 to hit aircraft and VTOL, +1 to hit vs ground)
Total ADA to hit modifier - -3 verse aircraft with guns.

The combination of long ranged flak guns and the added punch of a missile designed to engage aircraft and VTOL raiders on a light chassis.   The vehicle was designed to be emplaced in concealed dug in positions around an air base, defensive positions, or a supply base to help deter the adventurous pilot. The next component of the ADA network is a meager 20 ton tracked vehicle.

Code: [Select]
ADT-2
20 tons Tracked
Internal Structure- 2 tons
Amphibious Equipment - 1 ton – Limited Amphibious
Engine – 80 Fuel Cell – 3 tons
Cruise – 4
Flank – 6
Control Equipment – 1 ton
Turret – 1.5 tons
Armor – 2.5 tons
Front - 9
Sides – 8/8
Rear - 6
Turret - 9

Weapons
Thunderbolt-10 – 7 tons
Thunderbolt-10 Ammo (12) – 2 tons
Anti-Aircraft Targeting System – 0 tons (-1 to hit aircraft and VTOL, +1 to hit vs ground)

Meant to be a supplementary vehicle to the larger ADT-1, the heavier missile is hoped to be able to help force a damaged aircraft out of the sky.   The small size is hoped to make it a bit harder to distinguish when concealed in a firing position around an instillation.

The apex of the triangle of AD vehicles is a 45 ton wheeled vehicle.

Code: [Select]
ADT-3
45 Tons – Wheeled
Internal Structure – 4.5 tons
Engine – 160 ICE – 12 Tons
Cruise – 4
Flank - 6
Control Equipment – 2.25 tons
Turret – 1.5 tons
Armor - 4.75 tons
Front - 16
Sides – 15/15
Rear – 15
Turret - 15
Equipment
Arrow IV Turret 15 tons
Air Defense Arrow Missiles Ammo (20) Body 4 Tons
CASE Body .5 tons
C3 Slave Body 1 ton
Cargo Body 1 ton
Trailer Hitch Rear
Anti-Aircraft Targeting System (-1 to hit Aircraft and VTOLs, +1 vs Ground)

A heavy 6x6 chassis serves as the basis for the ADT-3 system.   An anti-air targeting system slaved to an Arrow IV launcher loaded with ADA missiles.   Serving as the apex of the three systems, each ADT-3 meant to be protected by the other two, it is also designed to be tied into a central command vehicle to help coordinate the various missile launchers arrayed around a location.

Code: [Select]
CCV-2 Command Vehicle
45 tons – Wheeled
Internal Structure – 4.5 tons
Engine – 160 ICE – 12 tons
Cruise – 4
Flank -6
Control Equipment – 2.25 tons
Turret – .5 tons
Armor – 12 pts - .75 tons
Front – 3
Sides - 2/2
Rear – 2
Turret – 3

Weapons
C3 Master Computer – Body – 5 tons
C3 Master Computer – Body – 5 tons
Field Kitchen – Body – 3 tons
Cargo – Body – 10.5 tons
Machine Gun – Turret - .5 tons
MG Ammo – Body – .5 ton

The CCV-2 is designed to integrate C3 abilities and support capabilities to defensive Air Defence and Artillery units.  Almost never deployed to the front lines, these massive 8x8 trucks will be most likely heavily camouflaged and concealed.   Units assigned one do enjoy the benefit of having warm food available to them on short notice and some have had their cargo areas converted to carry addition communications equipment (6 tons for the +1 init bonus).

Code: [Select]
CCA-2 Mobile Gun System
45 tons – Wheeled
Internal Structure – 4.5 tons
Engine – 160 ICE – 12 tons
Cruise – 4
Flank -6
Control Equipment – 2.25 tons
Turret – 2 tons
Armor – 12 pts - .75 tons
Front – 3
Sides - 2/2
Rear – 2
Turret – 3

Weapon
Sniper Artillery Piece – Turret – 20 tons
Sniper Ammo (30 Rounds) – 3 tons
C3 Slave – Body – 1 ton
Trailer Hitch - Rear

The conventional tube artillery companion to the CCV-2 and the ADT-3, the vehicle is nothing special besides being part of a large mobile gun battery with a central command vehicle in support.   Rarely will a CCV-2 be integrated with both a CCA-2 and an ADT-3, they are almost mutually exclusive assignments for the command vehicle.

The final major garrison vehicle is one meant to give a garrison commander a real way to reach out and counter attack a grounded dropship and trap an attacking force on planet.

Code: [Select]
Name: Volatile Launch Vehicle
80 tons – Wheeled
Internal Structure – 8 tons
Engine – 140 ICE - 10 tons
Cruise – 2
Flank – 3
Control Equipment – 4 tons
Armor – 16 pts – 1 ton
Front – 4
Sides – 4/4
Rear – 4

Equipment
CM-50 Launcher Back 55 tons
Cargo Body 2 tons
Trailer Hitch - Rear

A massive 12x12 truck, the Volatile class launch vehicle pushes the limits of what can be carried into range of a grounded attack force.   The launch vehicle though has to set up and allow itself to link up with it's sister vehicle, a similarly large 12x12 transport truck dragging it ammunition into the field.

Code: [Select]
Name - Volatile Transporter
80 tons – Wheeled
Internal Structure – 8 tons
Engine – 220 ICE - 20 tons
Cruise – 3
Flank – 5
Control Equipment – 4 tons
Armor – 16 pts – 1 ton
Front - 4
Sides - 4/4
Rear - 4

Equipment
Cargo Body 47 tons
Max Towing Weight – 127 tons
Trailer Hitch - Rear

While each transport vehicle could bring one single CM-50 safely to the launch site, in an emergency or if setting up for a sustained bombardment, 5 CM-50s could be transported.   In less combat oriented roles, the 12x12 Volatile transporter can be found dragging all but the most robust super heavy mechs off the field or on space ports hauling heavy equipment and munitions to awaiting dropships.
"Any sufficiently rigorously defined magic is indistinguishable from technology."  - Larry Niven... far too appropriate at times here.

...but sometimes making sure you turn their ace into red paste is more important than friends.

Do not offend the chair leg of truth.  It is wise and terrible.

The GM is only right for as long as the facts back him up.
