Well, of course one could use Thunder or FASCAM to disperse mines. But the tech rating is a bit high to do such a simplistic job. :)

When I design vehicles, I usually consider who could possibly purchase and use this vehicle. Cost and availability are very important. A C- or D-rated vee would be widely available to anyone from planetary militias to Periphery armies and the Clans. Their native facilities could produce it with available technology and en masse.

While your vee is more effective, I can have 10 Engineering Vehicles to 1 of those. As fragile as vehicles are, I prefer to have as many as possible in my reserve!

Wouldn't it be a better idea to have a trailer with mine dispensers to hook onto a standard engineering vehicle instead? With a 20-ton trailer it should still be able to move decently fast and you could fit a lot of mines into one.

Is that possible? I've not used a trailer before on a vee so I don't know how it would work.

...Yes, it's possible.  I've been screaming, "The answer is 'trailer!'" For quite a while now to just about any vehicle question.  Once you try them, you'll never look back.
