The Enclave is a small walled city (78 square kilometers) designated as a special economic zone, with a population constantly in flux (from twenty thousand or so permanent residents and employees to as much as half a million due to tourism, customers, vendors, traveling sales reps, traders, ship crews, transient workers, and 'seasonal' workers), positioned on the Deccan Peninsula northeast of the Spaceport on the continent of Tairiku, Nejiro. It was established shortly after Yousai began building its foundations by Parliament to attract immigrants, trade, and business into the stellar system. The city is located nearby the Meander River a tributary of the Yoshino-gawa that flows into Subarashi Bei. The entire city is a free trade zone with some limited manufacturing, and a safe haven freeport with the associated security measures. More than eighty interstellar firms have invested in the zone including Buki Industries, Stark Heavy Industries, Element Six, GE Sensing, New Worlds Media Productions, Zimmer, Cerulean Waters, Metals of the Earth, Ballard-Dukempic Foods, Galileo Instruments, Isesaki Shipping, Lufthansa Technik, Lustrix Commodities, Intel, Ryan Iceships, Odin Manufacturing, and UCB. The city houses places where traders may own, rent or lease space to demonstrate and sell their goods, and where trade envoys and other professionals may keep offices. There are several apartment blocks, parks, condominium and townhouse complexes, blocks of warehouses, factories, vaults and secure storage areas, research and technical services facilities, arbitration and mediation services, negotiators and hagglers, guides and translators, commercial and personal concierge services, workshops and repair facilities, transport and distribution facilities, conference centers, banks, financial markets, commodity and security trading, tradeshow facilities, offices, marts and trading centers, independent traveling markets and fairs, traveling roadshows, hotels, inns and hostels, bars, theaters, restaurants, kabukicho {redlight district - love hotels, kyabakura, host clubs}, casinos and gambling, yukaku {red light district - brothels, pleasure houses, yujo} shrines, trade schools, entertainment, and health facilities to serve the traders and their customers as well as employees and residents. Many interstellar spaceship crews stay here while in system. The Enclave has strong ties with the Spacer League and Traders Trust. The city is administered by the Enclave Trade Council, and is considered somewhat of a foreign embassy, which is currently led by the Chief of the Enclave Trade Council Raji Rahman. The Enclave administers its own police force, defense/security force, firestations, city services, medical centers, and paramedics. The Market Square, the most well known feature of the city - a sizable open air bazaar, is located in an enclosed and gated court within the city next to the caravanserai. The Market Square has the most substantial and significant farmers market on Nejiro and sells local and interstellar produce, meats, cheese and dairy, bread and bakery products, plants and cut flowers, live animals, seafood, prepared food, and beverages. The Market Square closes to custom at sunset and there is no vehicular traffic allowed in The Market Square after six am. The Market Square is filled with an enormous variety of goods and services (anything and everything may be found here) from across the Periphery and the Sphere. The Market Square is found in the the largest most accessible area of The Enclave, with more than sixty narrow streets (some with glass covered arcades) organized into specialized souks associated with the local guilds and types of goods (textiles, handicrafts, spa and salon services, spices and herbs, gold, sento, books, leather and fur, drugs and traditional medicine, mecha and robots, fashion and accessories, yoshiwara style yukaku, weapons, furniture, animals, beer and alcohol, footwear, toys, engineering and technology, tools, vehicles, lighting, armor, tea and coffee, components, film and media, entertainment and attractions, gambling parlors, sexy emprium - sexual novelties, sexual aides, sex toys etc., soap and candles, housewares, music and instruments, electronics and computers, telecomm services, gadgets and gear, ammunition and explosives, engines and generators, water fun zone of slides and water coasters, stationery, barbers, printers, tailors, cleaners, prepared food stands, and restaurants etc.) of merchants, market stalls, peddlers and tinkers, vending machines, crafters and artisans, and over four thousand shops (from pawn shops and antique stores to specialty shops and luxury boutiques) that attracts more than two hundred thousand visitors daily. Many of the bazaar corner's house koban {community police substations - some with K9 partners}, outdoor and sidewalk cafes, shipping services, lounges and park areas, convenience stores, arcades and pachinko parlors. There are also a great many fountains, and public art installations such as sculptures, mosaics, murals, digital lighting, and architectural structures. The Market Square bazaar is the only place in The Enclave open to the general public. Nejiroans and other non-residents generally require an appointment, a reservation, a ticket, an invitation, to be actively employed by an Enclave business or resident, or have a Stellar Entry pass to gain entrance through the gates to other parts of the city. Locally sourced and interstellar deliveries are made to the city gates and couriered from there to their destination. There are both canal and high speed rail line connections (that are inside their own enclosed and gated court of the Enclave) to the Spaceport and Neptune Port (Iona Koichizoku - a small fishing/commercial seaport on the easternmost coast of the Deccan Peninsula) on Subarashi Bei with additional connections to Leyte and Bridges, as well as a regional aerofield with small craft and limited dropship access. There is of course a small inland port connected to the continents waterways that docks commercial and leisure traffic including yachts and cruise ships, that may also dock a handful of deep draft ship traffic.
