0.43.11-RC5 Slack Tournament / Quick Games
« on: 23 June 2018, 16:21:42 »
I'm still doing the tournaments on our Slack each night if yall are looking for a few quick games.

Tournaments are divided into max tech level (Intro - Modified) *I usually just use a random number generator to pick between 1 - 5 to determine the tech level.

- Intro: Intro tech rules and units, year 3019 max.
- Standard: Total Warfare rules and standard units (including those from the star league era) year 3067 max.
- Advanced: TacOps, StratOps, some MaxTech Legacy, and Campaign Operations rules (pretty much all), year 3085 max.
- Experimental: practically all the rules on, year 3145 max.
- Modified: Custom/unofficial units allowed, reroll for what actual tech level they will be, whatever year max for the tech level.

Tournaments are then divided into Inner Sphere or Clan and then weight class.
One "unit" is equal to 1 mech or ASF, 2 tank/conv fighter/VTOL, or 3 infantry/battlearmors.
Will randomly generate how many "units" are allowed per player Inner Sphere (1-4) or Clan (1-5).
Each allowed unit type has a max BV (determined by the highest BV unit of that type with a regular pilot) that player must keep each individual unit below. *so max BV of 700 for battlearmor means each individual battlearmor has to be 700 or less BV not 700 total for all 3 battlearmors.

Tournaments can be structured as double-elimination brackets(if defeated in the upper bracket you move to the lower bracket and get a second chance) or round robins (everyone fights everyone else once and the player with the highest score at the end is the champion).

*round robin score is determined by:
 - for a win take the enemy total BV divided by your BV * 100 (defeating lower BV forces give you less points)
 - for a tie take the enemy BV divided by your BV * 100 / 2 for both sides (both players are awarded points)
 - for a loss zero points are awarded

If we do not have enough human players then princess bots will fill out the empty slots (Nickaragua has been improving her to where she can use all the units now except for artillery)

The map for each game will be 3 x3 mapsheets (48 x 51 hexes) and randomly generated off the map table I have created or players can decided to use pre-made maps whatever they agree on.

Every tournament winner will go up on the leaderboard and when that same tech level, faction, and weight class tournament is played again in the future the new champion will face the old champion for that spot on the leaderboard.
*force composition and pilot skills are written out next to each players portrait so that we have a record of what units were used.

All games have a 30 round limit and whoever has the highest BV remaining will advance as the winner in such a scenario. *mainly for princess vs princess games with aero where she will evade more than fight

Princess bots will have forced withdraw option turned off so she will fight to the death *was causing issues with matches lasting forever trying to withdraw a crippled unit which then causes that unit to no longer be a valid target for the enemy princess bot

Got rid of the moon map possibility because not every unit type can survive in vacuum and 0.1G (x10 movement speed) would cause princess to lag out the program.
