Go figure.  Just spent the cash I had set aside for these.  Hope they stay in stock longer.

More details about the new Union and Overlord Dropships

They are all once piece, except for the Metal legs / covers. They are made from the Closed Cell Foam and it is solid, I squeezed a Union in my hand and it did not leave a mark. The bottom of the drop ship where the Engines are is a Resin insert, that on the ones I received was already in the dropship. They do take paint fine, the three I got look like they have a grey primer on them. Two of them were test runs and were at IWM for a while. I will have some pictures this weekend.

I'd honestly prefer a conventional troop transport, or a small assault ship. We've got plenty of 'mech haulers, but nothing that can swoop in and deposit a company of tanks and infantry. My ideal would be a Fury/Condor/Gazelle, or an Avenger/Achilles.

did you have to use any glue on them ?

if so, what type did you use ?    ( superglue, PVA, araldite, etc )

and how did it react ?

Not on the Engines, if I have time tomorrow I will try and glue on the metal legs to one of the dropships.

If i had to wish for another sculpt, i would go with one of the bigger aerodyne like the Condor or Triumph. As many other dropships can be represented by size with one of the available sculpts.

An earlier poll came out with the Aurora as the n winner followed by either the Condor or Gazelle. I would be up to started one of these in another month if Mike ok'd it. And I am glad to see folks still liking the other mapscales  O0

My Overlords arrived yesterday. One has a light mold line and one requires a lot more work. Both are heavily primed. It's thicker than my basecoats with recognizable fingerprints forever preserved.

Speck, can I safely remove this primer? Both models require work and will need re-priming afterwards.

Out of curiosity, why were they primed at all?

Talked to Mike, he said that is the Release and Coloring Agent for getting it out of the mold.

As one of the folks that have been bugging you for awhile to restock the dropships, I wanted to say thanks for delivering!   O0

I got my two overlords in the mail this week, and they look great...I wouldn't have even realized they weren't resin.  Other than a mold line that should be easily dremeled away, the quality and finish of the ships are great.

Do you follow the same procedure for prepping them?  Do you wash them, scrub with soap and an old toothbrush?  Just checking, since they are technically foam I wanted to make sure you're not supposed to get them wet.  Is it ok to sand them to get the mold lines off?  And afterwards, just prime and paint like normal?

Thanks!

Wonderful! So I can safely give them a simple green bath and remove it?

If I decide not to risk stripping the mold release, do I need to apply a layer of primer on top of it?

That's what I'm planning to do, just curious if it's ok to sand off the mold lines with a dremel, then prime over it?  I prob won't get to it before next week, so if you get there first let us know how it goes.

You won't need a dremel.   I had a bad mold line and got rid of it easily with a small file.   A sharp knife goes through this stuff like butter.

Got the Union and Overlord, Nice models. Just some very small Moldlines and some Gunbarels did not mold. I used Revel Colors direkt on the Model. No need for a Primer.
