(Answered) Hex base-base contact errata Question

Reposting here as requested

I think, this is Errata for the Errata:

Page 15 of the Errata Document:

② Converting Movement and Distances (p. 110)
Under “Base-to-Base Contact”, first sentence
Under hex-based rules, a unit in an adjacent hex qualifies for base-to-base contact.
Change to:
Under hex-based rules, a unit in an adjacent hex, and within 1 level of elevation, is in base-to-base contact.

Should maybe be:

② Converting Movement and Distances (p. 110)
Under “Base-to-Base Contact”, first sentence
Under hex-based rules, a unit in an adjacent hex qualifies for base-to-base contact.
Change to:
Under hex-based rules, a unit in an adjacent hex, and within 1 level of elevation, qualifies for base-to-base contact.

That wording change was intentional. There is no definition of "qualifies" for base-to-base contact, a unit is either in base-to-base contact or it is not.

So I understand (as this is not the place for discussion), this ruling puts Hex based play back to the units in adjacent hexes are always in base to base contact and thus cannot shoot each other and can only physically attack each other?

I see where the possibility was brought up, but nowhere where that change was ever implemented.

It's always been (AFAIR) adjacent hexes means no weapon attacks, only physical attacks.

Well, there is this post from you:

http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=31693.msg1106403#msg1106403

p110, Base-to-Base Contact:
"Base-to-Base Contact: Under hex-based rules, a unit in an adjacent hex qualifies for base-to-base contact."
change to
"Base-to-Base Contact: Under hex-based rules, a unit in an adjacent hex, and within 1 level of elevation, is in base-to-base contact. In hex map play, units may make weapon or physical attacks against targets in base-to-base contact."

And that is an errata thread, but the second sentence seems to have been lost in the shuffle :(

Thank you. I believe that you are correct and that just got missed in compiling the errata.  Give me a couple days to verify.

Yes, we'll be sure to include that line in the next errata document. Thanks for pointing out the omission.
