There's a rules question regarding VTOLs and Ferro-Lamellor already in the appropriate forum.  I think it may be prudent to send a request for clarification up the chain if such is within your realm of influence, Welshman, if only to appease the little folk. ;)

Hello,

If you would like to send the relevant link I will be happy to look at it. I am one of the developers who makes rules rulings and decides on errata. There isn't any chain to send this up.

Thank you,

My apologies for the inadvertent slight.  The link in question.

Ah I see. Our rules questions can get backed up as answering them is done by a volunteer team who then validates with development.

I've answered the question, confirming what I posted here already.

If you have the MP for it.

Also I don't know if that's for all large vehicles, or just large support vehicles.
Why wouldn't it? That rule also applies to DS and Large/Super-Heavy Combat vehicles aren't in TW. I'm also pretty sure it applies to Mobile Structures, or all structures

Doesn't that answer contradict, these answer?:

http://bg.battletech.com/forums/tactical-operations/%28answered%29-ferro-lamellar-armor-and-spikes/

In both cases FL effect is applied last.

ps. And as Sabelkatten has noted, the "fraction there of" interpretation is off.

We'll have to review these. Rules are an ever evolving thing. When first written the writer often can't imagine the things you the players will do with them.

In general, same as the books, a new rules ruling will trump and old one. It was never our intention that Ferro-Lam would make a VTOL nigh on unkillable.

It really isn't that bad, a rotor mission kill, still leaves it a setting duck or forces a retreat.

But please also think about other special armors, we players prefer a consistent way of handling damage between the special armors.

Discussion of Ferro-lamellor armor and other funky armor types belong in its own thread. This is a thread about Cardinals, so please stick to actual Cardinals.

Yeah, the RS has 2 tons of ammo (also weapons on standard = LBX and ammo - 6 tons, LRM and ammo - 2 tons, AP Gauss and ammo - 2 tons = 10 tons = 2 tons additional BA, 3 tons SPL, MML and ammo = 5 tons on RAF variant).

O0

So it can take a load of both?  Sweet! Much more useful that way.  Only thing better than an MML with 2 tons of ammo is a bigger MML with even more ammo.

This is a thread about Cardinals, so please stick to actual Cardinals.

Don't the guys in your group clean their kit-bashes? Is that why you don't like customs so much?

I have no idea what your sentences were meant to say. I should hope that everybody cleans their minis.

The reason I dislike customs in *otW threads is because they do not ever belong there. You people get entire subforums for customs and talk of customs, use them. [copper]

Are there any official infantry squad sheets besides the Manei Domini? I'm curious about deploying 10-tons of pathfinders/spotters at high speed, but I'd like to stick with cannon stuff for the initial exercise.

A big chunk of TRO:3085 covered infantry, here's a list from the TOC:
House Kurita
House Davion
House Liao
House Marik
House Steiner
Comstar
Word Of Blake
Ghost Bear (Rasalhague)
Hell’s Horses
General Clan
Taurian Concordat
Magistracy of Canopus
General Periphery/Pirate
Corporations
Each of those headings has four new platoons/squads, plus I think there's more in TRO:3085 Supp

He's specifically asking about squad-sized units(probably to keep the weight limit at one ton), of which I think there might be only one or two beyond the Blakist ones. I know the Magistracy Field Medics are one of them.

The Clans have a squad sized one, and I think the DC and CC have squad sized spec ops ones, not too sure about the FS one but. Possibly C* as well

Capellan Confederation Snipers
Free Worlds League Branth Infantry is technically seven people, but demands seven tons because it's also seven dragons.
The two manei domini teams of course
The Ebon Keshik unit
MOC Ebon Magistrate unit
The field medics already mentioned
Deep Periphery assassin team

That's the whole list of single squad units in TRO 3085/3085 supplemental. If one is looking for pathfinders of a non-specific variety, my suggestion would be to use the capellan confederation snipers or deep periphery assassins and ignore their affiliations.

Thanks, those should do nicely!

Yeah, I figure being able to spread ten squads of eyes around the field means I should be able to keep LoS on the whole battlefield.

The RotS has access to RL-10's and those are far better when you want to clear an LZ, and this thing can carry 10.
Another option, given how tough this thing is you can drops the troops BEHIND the enemy, so load up with cluster bombs, streak across the front lines (Dropping the bombs on the way) and then drop some Corona's in their rear

there's nothing i can really add to the discussion of this VTOLunchbox, thanks to you lot chewing over literally every angle already but man that's an amazing popcorn dispenser. anything that hauls like that and safely drops ten tons of BA right where the other guy doesn't want it is a perfect way to make someone start swearing at you, which is the barometer of how well the plan is working.
