5 regiments aren't gonna be enough, are they?

Considering how the AFFS has expanded In comparisons to canon by those idiot in charge of the creative direction in canon it will be no where near enough.

Except unlike 3039 Victor has the resources, warships, and troop advantage much greater than that war and the will and backing to keep pushing so no bluff on the side of the DC will be enough to in the war.

Yeah. 5 Battlemech Regiments of questionable troops honestly don't change the strategic calculus. Victors factories are probably making that many every couple of months by now. Plus armor, battle armor, aerospace units and warships and such...

The bigger thing that Teddy and HotHead haven't thought about with this off the wall plan is COMSTAR.

ComStar still own all the HPGs in the Combine, the ComGuards are still stationed in the Combine and they are still working with the DCMS (as far as I know). ROM has been ever so slowly piecing itself back together and dealing with the double agents the WOB have put into it for some time now. The odds are very good that they will find out that Teddy is going shopping to Terra and pretty much tell him then and there either he calls this off, or ComStar are leaving ... and probably spiking their HPGs on the way out as a '****** you' to the Word of Blake.

Yeah, gonna be hilarious watching you try to defend against the Davions when you're under a permanent interdiction isn't it?

I'm personally just hoping that Hohiro shows up at Terra ... about ten minutes after Victors Battleline. And is promptly taken prisoner. Preferably with all the proof that he was heading to Terra to get Mechs to attack the Davions from the WOB on hand...

Another difference to the War of '39 is the Clans. This time around the Combine is surrounded by enemies who will be more than happy to bite off nice chunks of territory while Teddy is busy getting his a.... kicked by the Suns. And in the process the Combine's strategic depth will get reduced even further.

In defence of Theodore Kurita, he has had a significant and disabling health condition - that can change a person (look at King Henry VIII - he reportedly changed dramatically after a jousting injury and turned into a tyrant)

Hohiro K is demonstrating why statecraft is an older man's game

The strategic plans of the DC are going to be a struggle as they haven't appreciated the change in the FedSuns and rest of the Inner Sphere
- WoB may or may not supply 5 regiments of 'Mechs but it certainly won't be a surprise because the ComStar/FedSuns/LC alliance will be keeping a close eye on Terra and such moves, if the WoB do gift the equipment it will weaken them pre-invasion of Terra
- the Black Dragon regiments will likely lack cohesion, I suspect the plan is to throw them in as the first wave of assault troops and let them get ground up in place of more loyal troops and to thin the ranks of the Black Dragons
- I am not sure what the plan will be in terms of the Clans but despite their claims to honour they don't seem to have a problem with taking advantage as predators striking at weak rear areas when attention is turned

The question(s) for me will be whether
- the DC change their plans after realising the errors above
- the timing of any DC invasion pre- or post- alliance invasion of Terra
- to what extent the DC's plans are anticipated (or known) in advance by the FedSuns and what response is made

3069 - March - Naval Update

(Sticking this in as I actually forgot to include it in the General Update for March and didn't want anyone to miss it if they'd already read the Update. Sorry. My fault.)

The High Command were tempted to retain the Fox corvette that finished at Filtvelt's shipyards for Comstar, however after some discussion it was agreed that the Fox I would indeed be sold to Comstar. Not only would they have to upgrade the vessel if they kept it, but they didn't want to further erode their relationship with the communications order at the present time. On top of which the FedSun's could use the cash from the purchase given the war.

Also at Filtvelt the new Avalon yard came online and began construction of the first of these now combat tested cruisers at the yard there. This was in line with the First Princes's directive that no single facility be the only source for vital equipment for the AFFS. While the bulk of Avalon class cruisers under construction remained at Kathil, there were now Avalon yards at Filtvelt and Galax - meaning that even if Kathil was destroyed not only production but also support of these vital ships would continue elsewhere.

At Galax itself the FSS Dothan, FSS Molino, FSS Evansville, FSS Sonia and FSS Elbar all completed construction. The FSS Dothan, FSS Molino, FSS Evansville and FSS Sonia were all assigned to the 2nd Corvette Flotilla which was based in the New Avalon Combat Region to bring that Flotilla up to reinforced status. The FSS Elbar was assigned to the nascent 7th Corvette Flotilla as it's proposed flagship. The new ships that were laid down at Galax - the FSS St Ives, FSS Warlock, FSS Sarna, FSS Corey, FSS Nanking - sent a clear message to anyone wondering as to how committed the AFFS was to integrating the new League March into the Federated Suns. With the formation of a 3rd Division for the 2nd Corvette the Flotilla's 2nd Division slipped away to be refitted at Verde and Novaya Zemlya - 2 corvettes being refitted at each repair slip, with the ships expected to return to service by September.

The FSS Divine also finished at Galax and was immedietly dispatched to join the 2nd Destroyer Squadron. Indeed the FSS Divine would for the time being be the only combat capable ship in that squadron, given the damage inflicted upon the FSS Daring and FSS Dryad during the recent combat. The FSS Dauphin was laid down in the vacant slip.

Kathil also finished the FSS Dastardly which was dispatched to join the 3rd Destroyer Squadron over Robinson to add additional protection to the March capital. The FSS Davidson was laid down in her place. The 3rd Destroyer Squadron was also joined by the FSS Dragon from the shipyards at New Syrtis bringing the 3rd Destroyer Squadron to full strength. The irony of assigning the FSS Dragon to oppose the "Dragon" was not lost on the Federated Sun's Navy. The empty slip was filled with a fresh destroyer - although this one was destined for the Clan Wolf-in-Exile as per previous treaties. The yards at New Syrtis also saw a new slip go online to build the planet's namesake carrier.

The final ship completed in March was the FSS Courageous, the third of the Congress-D II class frigates to be completed. As such it was immedietly assigned to the 1st Patrol Squadron. The Congress-D II's with their new heavy fighter component and decent weapons and armour had impressed many in the recent battles with the Capellan Confederation and some thought was being to given to expanding producing of them as almost "light carriers" while also having them available for their intended roles of long range patrols in the Outback. As such 2 further slips for this versatile design were ordered - the first at June and the second at Panpour.

Huh.

I honestly don't get why relations with ComStar are considered to be strained - or is it more accurate to say 'relations with Dow?' If so the First Circuit really needs to step in and DO something about him sooner rather than later. Crack the whip and re-asset their authority on him. The Federated Suns is ComStars greatest champion, providing pretty much all their military gear, paying them full service for their facilities and has generally aligned strategic goals. Victor has delayed their attack on Terra, sure. Understandably, you know, because he's fighting a war forced upon him! But we're getting close now to being able to get this whole thing back on track.

But if tensions are so high that the High Command almost held back a warship ComStar had brought and paid for?

Well, that would say either A) Victors High Command are going behind his back to make massive strategic policy decisions and are about to be shot for grossly exceeding their authority or B) It might just be time to do away with ComStar alongside the Word of Blake as two sides of the same coin...

3069 - April - Ceasefire

As April began the AFFS forces on Capella moved up to the outskirts of Memorial City. By now the skies had been swept clean of the remaining Holdfast Guard fighters and the AFFS had total air superiority and were conducting almost constant harassing air attacks upon the defenders lines. However with an iron ring formed around the city the AFFS suddenly stopped. At which time First Prince Victor Davion personally contacted Sang-shao Anson Quinn and offered terms. Pointing out that the CCAF presence on Capella was now hopeless and with the Confederation falling apart behind them there was no hope of relief so their sacrifice was pointless and would only result in needless deaths. Instead of a pointless and futile last stand he offered instead safe passage to the Sian Republic where they could continue to serve the memory of the Confederation and protect it's capital world. Along with them could go any members of the House of Scion's or other government organs which wished to relocate to the Sian Republic. They could take their battlemechs, equipment and dropships. The First Prince gave them 24 hours to make up their mind.

At the end of the 24 hours the Sang-shao very carefully contacted the First Prince and accepted the offer of relocation from the First Prince on behalf of the Holdfast Guard - however the Sang-shao informed the First Prince that Warrior House Ma-Tsu Kai had refused the offer. The First Prince ordered the Holdfast Guard to stand down, while requesting the exact location of the Warrior House.

Less than 2 hours later a massed air strike hit the CCAF line around where the Warrior House was deployed following which the Clan Sun Jaguar forces smashed into them followed by the 1st Arcadians RCT. With no support from their former allies the exemplary tactical abilities of Shiao-zhang Jasmine Liu counted for very little. With her forces hammered from the air and then with Clantech omnimechs and Elemental's swarming in the Warrior House is forced to give ground to try and reform, but with their predecessors ferocity the Jaguars stay on them, giving them no time to reorganise. By the time the Arcadian's come up there's little to do other than mopping up. Khan Nevversan's personal point of Elemental's finishing off the damaged Emperor class battlemech of Jasmine Liu.

Following this last engagement the Holdfast Guard march out from Memorial City and head for the dropships which will take them back to Sian. As a mark of respect for what must have been an incredibly difficult decision to make the 1st Davion Guards themselves form an honour guard for the Holdfast Guards withdrawal.

At the same time the 6th Harloc Cavalry Raiders on Harloc itself, facing reality agree to terms and begin withdrawing. However instead of heading for the Sian Republic they head for the Victoria Commonality. There they took up their old name of the Harloc Raiders and began to rebuild as best they could. There are hindered in this by the almost total lack of military production in the Victoria Commonality.

With Capella in hand the First Prince sends the 15th and 26th Avalon Hussars on a simple mission. The 2 RCT's divides into combat commands built around a battalion of battlemech's each and head for the 6 unclaimed worlds of the Capellan Commonality that remains between the Davion conquests, the Sian Republic and Free Worlds League border. Seeing them correctly as easy pickings the AFFS snap them up and fold them into the still forming Ingersoll PDZ.

The First Prince also sent word to the Sian Republic. He would accept an immediate cease fire at the current situation. However the Republic would have to earn any trust and there would be conditions to any permanent peace treaty. They were to send a delegation where he would meet with them on St Ives.

Even as the First Prince is resolving the Capellan front the rest of the AFFS continue to not only form the League March but also prepare for any further action that might be required on the Draconis front. For instance the 11th FedSun's Dragoons RCT moving from Defiance to Barlow's End. The 11th Avalon Hussar's began their long trek from the border of the Victoria Commonality towards their new garrison posting on Verde. Other units across the FedSun's began moving to their new postings.

The AFFS was however aware that the sudden flow of Kurita units towards the border had slowed and then stopped. Still they weren't going to stop preparing just in case...

In the meantime Duchess Cassandra Allard-Liao eventually losing patience dispatches the 5th FedSun's Dragoons, 1st Kittery Borderer's and 1st St Ives Cheveau-Legers to bring Roman's Mounted Fusiliers to heel. However when they jump in they find the unit has fled in the last few days. With nobody on the planet knowing where they got the jumpships to transport them...

The AFFS also completed their inspection of the Necromo shipyards in April. The single half built Feng Huang cruiser was not felt worth completing for the Federated Sun's Navy however they did after some discussions offer it up to Comstar to buy - at the insistence of the First Prince who had heard of the discussions about keeping the Fox corvette that had been built for the ComGuards and had responded angrily to the High Command. He made it clear to them that his policy of supporting the ComGuard's would be honoured. In this he was supported by not only the Princes's Champion but also the Marshal of Armies. Once this cruiser is completed the shipyard was earmarked to produce a more suitable design - some thought was being given to a Black Lion upgraded battlecruiser. Work continued at the Capella and Sarna shipyards to return them to service.

On Victoria the shattered industrial plant of Shengli Arms is sold to the local Capellan March company of Johnston Industries. The company began rebuilding a single Yu Huang/Kai assault battlemech line while the shattered heavy class lines were slowly rebuilt to put an Axman and a Caesar line into production. The Duan Gung line was rebuilt to produce the Sling class light battlemech that it had originally been based upon.

The McCarron's family remaining industrial facilities were also handed over to GM to upgrade and expand. In return for this effective gift the company agreed to expand the armour production facilities to full battlemech production - with the Stealth class battlemech being the first product to be put into production there. Given the massive upgrades this will take the first production line isn't expected until September 3070.

On Bristol the final Fury Command Tank production line going operational. However given how well the first production run had performed in the recent fighting the High Command immedietly request that Jolassa-Kumbold Armoured Weapons not only double production on Bristol but also build at least 2 production lines at a new facility. The company agrees to build a satellite facility on nearby Markesan.

With the growing instability on the FedSuns-Combine border Corsara Weapons decide to add a King Crab and Black Watch line to their secondary production plant on Northfield. Just in case their primary plant is damaged.

On Corey the Hollis Incorporated sign a long term contract to produce Battlemasters, Catapults and Huron Warriors for the AFFS. The Huron Warriors in particular will be diverted to help set up the various League March Militia's and will become a signature battlemech for these formations. From there they will slowly spread throughout other March Militia formations in limited numbers and to mercenary formations - although they will be unpopular with front line AFFS formations. The company also receive support to put the Highlander class battlemech back into production.

The First Prince also ordered that the remains of the Sarna Martial Academy be stripped for anything useful and sent to St Ives to help rebuild the shattered St Ives Academy of Martial Sciences. Sarna had proven how unreliable it could be and would not see investment to rebuild the academy, instead the education of the next generation of League March troops would be prioritised for St Ives. At the same time the Capella War College was to be re-branded as the Capellan Military College and returned to active service, although with an entirely new staff and cadet force. Until the St Ives Academy of Martial Sciences is rebuilt much of the cadet force of the CMC will be drawn from St Ives. He also orders an expansion to the Tikonov Martial Academy to also help fill the ranks of the AFFS units in the League March. Plans call for Tikonov to expand to a full battlemech regiments worth of cadets, with St Ives and Capella planned to field 2 regiments of cadets. This will give the League March a larger than normal graduating class of cadets when it's up and running, but given that the St Ives units require huge rebuilding and an almost entirely new League March Militia Brigade formed this is felt necessary.

Within the Draconis Combine the newly appointed Kanrei heads for Terra with a strong escort of Draconis Combine Admiralty warships. The DCS Siriwan and 4 corvettes escorted him on his journey along with the 1st Genyosha. In the meantime his father sends out feelers to the Black Dragons requesting a parley with their leadership. Various guarantees and assurances are given, but this will be a slow process. The Coordinator also sends word to his Nova Cat vassals demanding that their Khan attend him upon Luthien to discuss the coming military campaign. An emissary is also sent to the Clan Snow Raven forces which have been growing in the Outworlds Alliance, requesting that their leadership agree to meet with him to discuss a matter of mutual advantage...

Within the Free World League further shock waves ripple outwards when the LAAF launch a second wave of "peacekeeping" missions along the border. Alula Borealis, Bella I, Colfax, Cascade and Megrez all see Lyran troops arriving in their skies. Local garrisons are requested to stand down as the LAAF troops are coming in order to preserve order and protect them from the chaos that is descending throughout the League, however when a handful of troops resist they are met with brutal firepower from the LAAF troops who have obviously came loaded for bear.

On Tamarind the 1st and 2nd Tamarind Militia are expanded by a third regiment, while calls for assistance are sent out to the other League states. The only offers of assistance come from the 3rd Brigade of the Oriente Fusiliers which are garrisoning Tamarind still and their sister regiment in the 5th Brigade that although preparing to leave Thermopolis to travel back to their homeland agrees instead to hold position and divert the Kallon plant's production on that world to Tamarind to help them.

Tamarind also manages to negotiate with the worlds of Diamantina and Simpson's Desert to join the Duchy. While these worlds offer little to the Duchy their support and membership adds at least some additional resources and manpower while giving a shot in the arm to the flagging morale of the worlds on the new Lyran border. Archon Peter Steiner also began negotiating with the "famed" mercenary force of Camacho's Caballero's for them to return to their Trinity World homes and claim them as a landhold of the Lyran Alliance...

I wonder how the NC are going to take "the orders"  the FS needs to spend some time rebuilding.  the old CC might be a good place to build or use Watchmen and Sentry mechs.  it would be a quick and cheap way to rebuild.  when they are pulled off the front line they can be sent back to the schools for use for the next gen.

Relations are strained because during the last ship completion the FedSun kept the warships for their own fleet. That is why Victor put his foot down that they will honor their agreements because while the war and the attack on Tera can be excused as outside forces changing the parameters the keeping of the warships cannot. And High Command didn't almost hold back warships because of high tensions they held them back because they wanted them for themselves and that caused the tension not the other way around.

The last chapter said that they were considering holding back the Fix for their own use but decided against it because of tensions with ComStar.

Even ignoring the fact that this was a direct attack on Victors authority (as neither his Prince nor Champion who are the only two people with the right to alter such deals between major powers) and several ministers and Generals need to clearly be made examples of with demotions or outright firings, it suggests there was already some tension between ComStar and the Suns.

If so, after all the working together the two states have done, Victor delaying (not aborting but simply delaying) the agreement between both sides is enough to raise tensions to that level?

Honestly, then to hell with ConStar. Victor should just say ******’ and take Terra HIMSELF and note that ComStar is a redundant organisation (as soon as he has his own HPG network capabilities ready of course)...

I know some of the major manufactures were causing some issues about selling mechs to ComStar… until someone came down on them.  looks like the ship builder or someone in the Navy wanted some attention...… in not a good way.

This update was the second time they were thinking about doing that. The High Command already held back ships that were promised to others before this update. That is why there is tension because the FedSuns changed the deal for the warships. ComStar has every right to be warry and angry at the FedSuns because of the past actions.

The 3068 march update the FSS Remagen was meant to be sold to ComStar instead they kept it and promised to sell the next one that went into the old slip which they tried this turn to keep there is also a pair Davion IIIs that are being built that are meant to be sold to the Lyran Alliance and ComStar from the update being built and they are worried that the FedSuns will keep those as well.

3069 - May - Integration and Movement

May began with a major shift of AFFS forces from the now quieting Capellan Front to the potential flash point of the Draconis Front. This was possible due to the shattered nature of the CCAF and the various factions that the Confederation had shattered into. As well as reinforcing the frontier a number of AFFS and Davion loyalist mercenary formations were clearly being used to form task forces at key worlds. For instance an incredibly powerful force was being built up in the Addick's PDZ based around Murchison - with the 2nd and 4th Davion Guards RCT's joining the 5th Robinson Rangers RCT on the planet. This concentration of firepower on a single world near the Combine frontier would be dangerous enough for the DCMS but when you consider that the entire Vegan Rangers mercenary brigade was also stationed in the Addick's PDZ and that the Davion Assault Guards RCT was at nearby Helen while the 2nd Crucis Lancers RCT was on Errai amongst other units the threat was clear. The Addick's PDZ was being built up in preparation for either absorbing any DCMS strike or as a potential base for an overwhelming assault into the Combine around Quentin and Deiron. Or potentially into the WOB Protectorate...

As well as the forces at Addick's the AFFS also built up more forces in the Le Blanc PDZ behind the front lines and an even stronger task force built around the First Princes's 1st Davion Guards RCT on Markesan. With the 1st Kathil Uhlans RCT, 1st Revenant Guards RCT and Davion Old Guards RCT joining the 1st Davion Guards there were few analysts on either side of the border who could come to any conclusion that this build up was to be used as an offensive force wherever the First Prince saw the need! The presence of the 1st Albion Training Cadre on Markesan was almost an after thought, although with so many elite warriors available to act as OpForces for the cadets it was an excellent learning environment for them.

While the Draconis March saw an influx of combat hardened formations the various units remaining within the League and Capellan Marches redeployed to secure the new worlds that were now under the FedSun's flag. Reorganising to make sure the new PDZ's were not only protected against foreign aggression but also any pro-Liao uprisings. To continue this however there is an obvious need for native born troops to the March. With only the Tikonov based academy providing any source for mechwarriors the AFFS High Command orders alternate routes looked into until the rebuilt academies to can come online.

Victor Davion takes this opportunity to return to New Avalon with a small formation drawn from the 1st Davion Guards to spend time with his wife as well as to address some issues which have arisen both within the Federated Sun's civilian government but also within the High Command. During these meetings the Princes Champion informs the First Prince that he would like to retire in the near future - and recommends Galen Cox for his replacement. The First Prince with obvious sincerity attempts to talk Ardan Sortek out of retiring, but reluctantly agrees - with the proviso that he stay on in an advisory role for his successor (a request Cox echoes). Sortek agrees, clearly touched that his First Prince thinks so highly of him. Unknown to the Princes's Champion, the First Prince is already considering him for at least 2 more honours at his retirement.

At the same time the industrial integration of the new worlds continued apace. Large scale deployments of "Davion" standard battlemechs, omnimechs, tanks and aerospace fighters were ordered shipped to the new League March for instance. Atlas's, Templar-O's, Thanatos-O's, Caesers, Argus-O's, Dervish-O, Centurions, Enforcers, Valkyries, Javelin-O's and others were all shipped in by the company rather than by the lance. Indeed one singular order was given to Robinson Standard BattleWorks for roughly 5 regiments worth of Sentry and Watchman class battlemechs to begin outfitting the planned League March Militia's as well as another regiment of Battle Hawks. In itself this was the single biggest contract ever awarded to the Robinson based firm. Given that the existing production lines were already busy producing battlemech's for the existing 3 Marches's Militias and training units as well as various planetary militias Duke James Sandoval announced on the 23rd of May that this order would be met by the construction of an entirely new factory complex. Uniquely this facility would not be based within his own March but instead would be built upon the world of Achernar in conjunction with Achernar Battlemechs. Robinson would put up the funds and the Sentry, Watchman and Battle Hawk designs (with an optional sub-contract to add the Black Knight heavy battlemech design) while Achernar would put up much of the heavy industry while also supplying their Enforcer III battlemech design as well as their Cavalier and Infiltrator II battle armour licenses (with a similar optional subcontract to add the Dervish-O or Argus-O omnimech to the facility). This new facility is intended to produce not only battlemech's which will give the League March Militia's a more Davion flavour but also provide a massive sign of the Federated Sun's investment in the new March.

In a similar attempt to press for further integration the aerospace company Tengo Aerospace is encouraged to seek a license to produce the Sabre class aerospace fighter from Jalastar Aerospace on Panpour to replace the poorly thought of Thrush and Cheetah at their Sarna and St Ives plants. While Jalastar is somewhat loathe to help a competitor the recent issues involving Panpour and veiled references to investigations are enough to have them come around quickly. As well as the appeals to not only their patriotism but also their bank balances with hefty licensing fees. The retooling is expected to be completed between September and August and will convert 4 existing lines to Sabre production at Sarna and an additional 3 at St Ives.

Mujika Aerospace's board of directors, reading the writing on the wall, decide to "jump before they are pushed". Instead of waiting for AFFS demands for them to retool from their existing lines they instead negotiate a quick merger with Wangker Aerospace. Obtaining a 20% share in the combined company and assurances that within the League March the company will trade as Mujika-Wangker Aerospace the company acquire access overnight to some of the most highly sought after aerospace designs within the Federated Suns. Their facility on St Ives sees major investments almost overnight in upgrading and expanding their production facilities to produce the "royal" variant of the Tomahawk class aerospace fighter, while their Capella based facility not only see's it's 2 Transit lines being retooled to produce the Corsair fighter a third line begins construction.

One area where Capellan production continues at full pace in the new League March is that of stealth armoured battlemechs. Every production line for designs incorporating stealth armour see's large scale orders made. Rashpur-Owens Shipyards also see large scale orders placed for dropships, particularly for the Achilles, Avenger and Excalibur class vessels. It goes without saying that jumpship production is also unaffected, indeed Monolith production increases slightly.

The CEO's of Earthwerks on Tikonov are also encouraged to take full control of the Earthwerk's facilities on Ares, Grand Base and Victoria and to come up with a comprehensive integration plan to help integrate these factories into the wider FedSun's and increase their production. From being a marginalised company with facilities on only a single world the company is now one of the major players within the Federated Sun's defence industries, and is keen to capitalise on the possibilities this brings.

New Independence Weaponry attempts during May to buy out Tao Mechworks on Styk, but with the backing of the new Duchess of St Ives the company survives the takeover attempt. A few days later they sign a long term contract to provide Battlemasters, Victors and Crusaders to the St Ives Lancers.

On Brockton the Maltex Corporation has their Highlander production line go operational. The first entire company of the new battlemechs are slated to help upgrade the 1st Brockton Borderer's regiment, giving them a huge boost in firepower and capabilities.

Within the Draconis Combine the Coordinator continues to work on securing the support he needs. While Clan Nova Cat informs him that their Khans will immedietly head for Luthien, the Ravens are far more interested in securing themselves within the Outworld Alliance. Almost daily it seems more jumpships and dropships are arriving in the small periphery nation, with reports from the few SLDF troops in the Homeworlds indicating some sort of civil war breaking out. It's obvious to everyone that the Snow Ravens are attempting to carve a new home for themselves within the Alliance. Given the lack of interest however to his invitation, the Coordinator decides to make use of this information and informs the Snow Ravens that if they come to Luthien to discuss his deal he will offer them 3 months of being able to use his realms jumpstations and planets for their ships to move through - cutting months of the journey time to the Outworlds. The Black Dragon Society however is continuing to demand more and more assurances of safe conduct before agreeing to meet with the Coordinator.

The Tikonov Free Province within the Free Worlds League, it's forces wiped out over Tikonov begins to attempt to rebuild their shattered military by reforming a Tikonov Marshals regiment. The hope that this prestigious named formation will attract recruits is unfortunately in vain, as with the total defeat the Tikonov Republican Guard units suffered the provinces's military is far from well regarded by the natives...

the DC might have gotten better traction with the SR if he had offered supplies, cargo dropships, a few star lords to carry them until the cargos were used up or moved into other SR ships.

Well work is being put into the new march. So far so good but things are just starting. What other warships were still around in the shipyards and captured? Sell them all to ComStar to settle relations. Victor might wait on hitting Baxter to have the government-in-exile build up to be apart of the attack.

why this hate for Victor?   He is making the right choices.

If you mean his prior actions? I've gone into that before. If you mean this one?

Holding back a Warship ComStar had brought and paid for and telling them to wait for the next one (and then almost doing it AGAIN) for no clearly rational strategic reason is not 'the right choice'. Its stupid to such a mind blowing level that it's hard to believe. ComStar has poured obscene money into the Federated Suns military industrial complex - to the point of actually PAYING for additional Fox shipyards to build their warships and have increasingly become major allies to the Federated Suns, despite their nominally neutral position in the Inner Sphere. To the point that they are in fact joint owners of huge chunks of the Federated Suns military-industrial complex and financing Davions own buildup. The warship production will be something of an iron clad agreement, with a clear schedule for construction and delivery agreed for and paid in full.

Suddenly declaring for no good reason (seriously, it's not like they had any kind of critical strategic need for the Fox!) that you're holding back the warship and giving them the next one? That's just screwing an ally in bad faith, who had only acted in good faith and paid their bills in full and on time.

I mean, what is Victor going to do if ComStar reach out to Teddy and convince him to break off talks with the Word of Blake? And instead, ComStar will start a new agreement with him for new joint Mech production lines, shipyards and so on? Shifting funding out of the Federated Suns and making it clear they are neutral in any Combine/Suns conflict but are simply hedging their bets? Or if they wanted a less raw rebuke, engaging with Peter and sucking money out of the Suns into the Alliance?

I honestly wouldn't blame them if Victor held back one warship and his people almost held back the next one...

3069 - June - Military Education

During the month of June the First Prince continued to catch up with not only is wife but also with the responsibilities of is office. Eager to make sure that no further rifts developed between his own government and Comstar he spent a great deal of time with the Precentor New Avalon, discussing what further steps he could take to support the ComGuard's within his realm and in their wider fight with the WOB. After some discussions he agreed to further joint industrial ventures with Comstar to help support the ComGuards. In the short term this allowed the First Prince to expand his industrial base with Comstar footing large portions of the bill - which would continue to expand his realms economy and employment - and in the long term bring in much needed tax revenues on the sales themselves. Plans were discussed about a new Davion-Com facility perhaps to be built at Edwards within the Crucis March.

At the same time the First Prince met with Marshal of Armies Jackson Davion and Field Marshal Angela Kouranth and the newly appointed League March representative to the High Command - the freshly minted Marshal Marko Rubinsky, formerly of Rubinsky's Light Horse (now the 3rd St Ives Lancers under his son's command who was also the fiancee of the Duchess of St Ives) regarding the major issues with military education within the new March. Additional funds were allocated to not only rebuild the military academies on St Ives and Capella but also expand Tikonov's Martial Academy, but even if these projects were completed by the end of the year the new classes would be years away from filtering into the front line formations. As such it was agreed that a number of "Temporary Training Battalions" would be formed as a more basic source of raw recruits. These would be formed up as LCT's in a similar model to the existing Training Battalions and would eventually provide a small trickle of recruits which would primarily be used to bring damaged units back up to strength but also provide a core for the new League March Militias. With this later goal in mind the First Prince ordered that Temporary Training Battalions be formed on Styk, Corey, Menkib, Truth, Capella, Ingersoll, Hexare and St Ives largely using either local production or captured CCAF equipment - for instance the large numbers if Vindicators both still being produced on Capella and also captured from various CCAF units would be pressed into service in these formations. At the same time 2 permanent Training Battalions would be ordered formed at Jasmine and Preston to provide the basis for future Borderer units on those worlds within the League March.

Given these formations, it was only a matter of days until at Duke Hasek's request the First Prince also ordered that as well as the 2 permanent Training Battalions within the League March 2 further formations be created within the Capellan March. These were to be formed at Claxton and Hurik. The First Prince also began to jointly fund the rebuilding and reopening of the former Victoria Academy of Arms and Technology as the new Victoria Military College. In a quite message to Duke Sandoval the First Prince also promised that the Draconis March would also be considered for further Training Battalions and their Borderer successors.

While the permanent Training Battalion's would continue to provide a source of mechwarriors and conventional forces for the formation and maintenance of Borderer units in key systems the temporary training units were supposed to feed directly into the setting up of the League March Militias along with what academy graduates could be found. Indeed the temporary formations were intended once the March Miltia's reached a certain level to simply be folded into them as almost their final battalion. Of course the High Command also knew that the recruits provided could also be siphoned off in small numbers to help rebuild damaged units. The FedSun's Dragoons Brigade for instance had something of a history of doing this with the 3rd FedSun's Dragoons now having a large continent of graduates of the 1st Kittery Reinforced Training Battalion. It was perhaps not coincidence that the 1st, 3rd,7th and 8th FedSun's Dragoons all happened to be stationed on planets with newly forming either permanent or temporary Training Battalions.  Although the 3rd was at least currently at full strength, the others were all badly in need of replacement personal.

Marshal Nebuchadnezzar Talles of the Ceti Hussars was also approached by the First Prince during this month regarding a potential expansion of his brigade. At the end of the year the cadets of the 1st and 2nd Lexington Military Academy Light Combat Team's would be graduating from their respective cadres. While at least 3 companies of these young mechwarriors were earmarked already for the battered Lexington Combat Guard units which had provided such excellent servicing in the recent Capellan conflict, the First Prince was prepared to earmark the other 5 companies of cadets for the formation of a new Ceti Hussars RCT. Or at least the beginnings of one. Given the integrated nature of the LCT's that made up the Lexington cadres as well as the combined arms tactics taught at the Lexington Military Academy Marshal Talles and Prince Davion agreed they would make ideal candidates for a potential 4th Ceti Hussars. He agreed to provide a small cadre from his existing 3 units, with those troops and officers replaced by cadets, and to use this cadre and the bulk of the cadets to form the 4th Ceti Hussars RCT.

The First Prince also meets with the Free Worlds League (who has been driven almost to schizophrenia by having conflicting instructions sent to him by no less than 4 parliament's and 3 Captain-Generals in the last few months) to express his extreme dissatisfaction with the rebuilding of the Tikonov Province's military. Alongside him during this meeting is his wife. The ambassador can do little more than express platitudes.

Fleet Admiral Buchwald spent the month assigning the various new warships completing across the FedSun's to the various flotilla's and squadrons of the Fleet. The  FSS Andro, FSS Montcoal, FSS New Rhodes III, FSS Jesup and FSS Hoonaar were all assigned to the 7th Corvette Flotilla, completing it's 1st Division and allowing it to form an under strength 2nd Division of ships. While the FFS Dale alongside the FSS Dagon were assigned to the 1st Carrier Battle Group to protect the FSS Morgan Hasek-Davion. The FSS Shensi, FSS Mira, FSS Sauk City, FSS Vicente and FSS Hurik were laid down at Galax while the FSS Dayton was laid down at Filtvelt and the FSS Denver was laid down at New Syrtis.

At the same time the 4th Cruiser Squadron was completed with the additions of the FSS Etien Davion, FSS Marie Davion and FSS William Davion. This brought all 4 Cruiser Squadrons up to full strength with the Federated Sun's now numbered 16 Avalon class cruisers on it's rolls.

The FSS Cahill completed at Panpour and brought the 1st Patrol Squadron to full strength. Although the FSS Churchill remained detached for repairs.

At June the Challenge Systems shipyards completed their battleship construction facility and immedietly began work on laying down the FSS Benbow. The FSS Benbow was to be an Iron Duke class battleship. At Kathil the FSS Benbow's sister ship the FSS Emperor of India was laid down in the newly completed slip there.

At the same time as these ships entered service the 4 Fox class corvettes of the 4th Corvette Flotilla's 2nd Division completed their refits to the II standard. They were replaced in the repair slips at Edwards by the damaged corvettes of the 1st Corvette Flotilla. While the public repair slips began repairing and upgrading these warships, the newly commissioned repair slip at dead Arcadia began repairing the FSS Dryad and FSS Churchill. While at Panpour the FSS Joseph Davion completed repairs and it's place was taken by the FSS Daring. The FSS Daring and FSS Churchill are expected to return to service by December, but the FSS Dryad's damage is so extensive that it will be March 3070 before it's repairs are completed.

The inspection of the heavily damaged Capella Shipyards are finally completed in June. Of the 2 cruiser slips and 6 corvette slips only a single cruiser slip and 2 corvette slips are considered worth repairing - often from cannibalising the more damaged slips that are deemed beyond repair. Within the repairable slips there are a cruiser and 2 corvettes that can be completed with additional work - although their intended completion time had been for this month this has been hopelessly superseded by events. Quitely the AFFS diverts funds to complete all 3 ships, while scavenging what they can from the other damaged hulks within the devastated shipyards. The First Prince in his discussions offers both Feng Huang class cruisers (1 at Necromo and 1 at Capella) for sale to the ComGuards at a discounted price - while making no mention of the Sian class corvettes... Which are identical to the Draconis Combine Inazuma class corvettes.

At Demeter Lycomb-Davion with some prompting from the First Prince (who is a major shareholder) announces that they will be building 3 Stuka aerospace fighter lines at their rebuild factory there. The intent is clear to provide a nearby source of the versatile assault fighter for the newly forming wings of the League March next door. Further consideration is being given to add a Huscarl-O and Hammerhead line.

At the new SunCorp facilities within the League March there is a number of industrial actions. Small scale sabotage and strikes break out as workers protest against the takeover of the former StarCorp facilities. MIIO move in and begin to make investigations, suspicious of how well timed these actions are. Plans to add lines of omnimechs are placed on temporary hold.

Hildco Interplanetary announce a license transfer between themselves and Kallon Industries. They are transferring a license for the ever popular Pillager class assault mech (along with an unspecified c-bill sum) to Kallon in return for a license to produce the Templar-O on St Ives. Behind the scenes this deal has largely been orchestrated by the government of the Federated Sun's who wish to see League March companies producing Davion favourite battlemechs. In what is no doubt a totally unrelated announcement Kallon also announce shortly after this that with a generous loan from the FedSun's Government they will be expanding their Nanking factories to produce Enforcer III and Perpetrator's.

In the Free Worlds League itself more and more revolts are breaking out across the former Andurien Duchy. Reprisals are often heavy handed and brutal which only leads to more unrest. Worse a pro-Sian revolt breaks out on Pella II. Tamarind contacts the Abbey District and makes a plea for support. They also make a large order with Kendall based Kali Yama Alphard Trading Corporation for nearly 2 battalions of their heavy battlemechs to augment their new forces along with an order for twice that number of tanks from Brooks Inc's facility on the same planet.

Just a comment. You consistently use possessive apostrophes where they are not warranted, typically when you only needed to use a simple plural form. One example being the title of this thread, another being in the 4th paragraph of the post above.

I would encourage you to correct this, as to a bibliophile like myself it is rather like fingernails on chalkboard that greatly detracts from the quality of the rest of your work. Just my .02.

A big thing that hasn't been mentioned, I wonder how the transfer of HPG operations (and funds for that matter) from the Word of Blake to ComStar has been going through all this chaos?
You'd think that the WOB would have flatly refused to abandon their HPGs to 'Heretics' (at least not without disabling them or something) but the sheer scale and speed of Victors assault and frankly limited WOB forces at the HPGs thanks to concentrating the Milita into big units...

Be interesting to see how this is going....
