3145 rebuilds
« on: 09 October 2013, 17:55:41 »
alright, we've seen a few mechs, a couple of fighters and some small craft and dropships in the TROs, anyone got a specific fighter they're rebuilding for 3145, me, i'm going with the VLC-8N Vulcan once i can find out rules for fighters and ferro-lammelar, though the heavy Ferro Al is nice.

give me what you've got of the oldies but goodies

well i still havent figured out the ferro lamellar but heres three with Heavy Ferro Aluminum and mixed tech weapons (mostly clan)

SB-28S Sabre
Mass: 25tons
Chassis: Inazuma SI-32
Armor-Heavy Ferro-alluminum
Armament-
3-ERmedium pulse lasers
Power Plant-225XL
Structural Integrity-11
Heat Sinks-12 (10 base +2)
Fuel-400pts
Armor- 4tons Heavy Ferro Alluminum (79pt 20/20/19)

An XL engine added to the orriginal 25 ton frame along with an equal weight of heavy Ferro Alluminum to replace the orriginal standard armor allows for the addition of 2 heat sinks and 3 (clan) extended range medium pulse lasers to replace the orriginal standard medium lasers

LTN-G17S Lighting
Mass: 50 tons
Chassis: Hildco AS Type 4
Power Plant: 200XL
Armor-Heavy Ferro-alluminum
Armaments:
1-LBX20 (4 tons ammo)
2-Large Pulse Lasers
Structural Integrity: 6
Heat Sinks: 15 (10base +5)
Fuel: 400pts
Armor: 10.5 tons heavy ferro alluminum (208pts 68/50/40)

An upgrade to even the Lyran model G16 Lightning this one trades the light engine for an XL and its orriginal weapons for a heat sink and armor upgrade while using a (Clan) LBX20 and a pair of large pulse lasers to provide an equal if not heavier punch than the Liao or Lyran variants

VLC-9N Vulcan
Mass: 80tons
chassis: Type 698
Power Plant: 240 XL
Armor-Heavy Ferro-alluminum
Armament:
2-LBX20 (4tons ammo)
1-Large pulse laser
2-Medium Pulse Lasers
Guardian ECM
TAG
Structural Integrity: 8
Heat Sinks: 20 (10base +10)
Fuel: 400pts
Armor: Heavy Ferro Alluminum 13.5tons (267pts 69/66/66)

reworked from both the orriginal republican design as well as the -8N upgrade the addition of the Heavy Ferro Aluminum armor allows for an upgrade of the orriginal large laser to a (Clan) large pulse laser as well as the orriginal AC/10s in the wings to (Clan) LBX 20s as well as upgrading the medium lasers to (Clan) medium pulse lasers

I still prefer the Morgenstern.  Over the Lightning rebuild here.

To each their own, what are your thoughts on the other two rebuilds?

Well the issue with the Morgenstern vs. your rebuilt Lightning is less a matter of pure preference and more logistics.  The Morgenstern uses a simpler and cheaper to build Fusion Engine meaning you can proliferate it more throughout the fleet.  It has a better armor capacity in comparison along with weapon capacity.  I make the previous statement because of the use of Omni-pods which allows for versatile performance, rapid repairs, easier logistics (if you use a primarily Omni AeroSpace as the Lyrans seem to do in 3145), and can even include the use of Clan Pods when salvaging, producing, or even trading.

As for the Sabre, I'd use the AMS rebuild instead as the cheaper and faster fighters seem better in that sort of interceptor role.  The Dark Ages had a nice rebuild of the design that you could work with.

The Vulcan though confuses me; mind sharing some of why you chose what you did for that revamp?

With the vulcan I liked the orriginals AC's but I also like the flexibility of the LB. Giving it a XL engine gives it so much extra mass, especially if you use HFAl, that you can't help but pack in the extra weaponry.

I'll see what I can do and get back to you. So far this has all been by hand including the formatting.

Edit: anyone have TRO locations on these other than 3057. I'm just getting the absolute bare basics and not even good basics with that.

Gonna take a little bit to get those fighter rebuilds done, 3039 happens to be one of the books I don't have.  That said, I'm currently working on a Mule CV build that looks like pure murder. 18 each fighters and small craft and then 90 battle armor bays and 18 foot infantry platoons bays

You know, as much as I like the Mule.
I'd have to promote the Overlord for this platform.
Its almost as big, and you have the Standard, A3, and unstated CV models to base it off of.
If you used 18 (20-24) Fighters and only 6/12 Small Craft, I think you'd have plenty of room for some more armor/weapons & the infantry bays.
Maybe do 64 BA to match a normal sized unit and 9-12 Jump platoons to represent "space" marines.
Just food for thought.

I'd have to choose the Shiva for a rebuild. I'd drop ten tons of pod space to double its armor protection, for starters. Either that, or go to a 340 engine to hit that 6/9 thrust curve.

Oh heck, 1 more SLDF bird given a new life in the post-Jihad era.

A major spin to the Royal-Hammerhead.

iHG, LPL-c, & 2 ERMLs combine with XL, Heavy-FA, & bigger fuel tank from the HE.

I think she's a Dropship Killer.

With 7 tons of fuel it's gonna need way more than just 8 rounds of ammo.  I'd either drop the ER Lasers for more, or be completely out-of-your-mind nutty, dropping the lasers for more ammo, Blue shield, and +2 LAMS systems.

You sir are correct.  I'm not sure what happened, I had given it 24 rounds of ammo at one point in the creation process.  Not sure how it got dropped down to just 8.  Time to alter a few things.

Also 5 tons of fuel seems to be common in fighters. Just got TRO3039 so I'll have those rebuilds done soon.
Wolf wins every fight but one, and in that one he dies, his fangs locked on the throat of his opponent.

It is common.  Which is why I like to sometimes give a fighter more than that.  ;)

That said, I've adjusted the lasers, fuel, & ammo, to account for the glitch above.
After bringing the ammo up to 20 rounds, I decided to change things up a bit & stick the rest into Armor, this bird is meant to attack dropships & as such the extra armor feels right.

Here she is.

I went with something more...beatsticky and IS tech.

I upped the armor protection to eighteen tons, greater than the 20% 'complete protection' threshold (it's 21.17%, to be precise...). This drops pod space from 52.5 5 to 44.5 tons, but as we're building for 3145, fun mixed-tech shenanigans can make up for this slight decrease. Armor is arranged 95/76/76; she's immune to crits from IS ERLLs on all facings and all but the heaviest ordnance on the nose.

I've only worked up this config so far; it's a successor to the Macross Missile Massacre that is the SHV-OB. Mixed-tech seems to be somewhat in vogue in 3145, and I thought that the Streaks would be a good substitute for the loss in throw-weight. The ER PPC is there if the Streaks run dry (eight rounds apiece, so that'll take a fair while) and in case of AMS, while the fighter also mounts a full electronics suite. I see her as being a dropper-popper and general fire-support platform.

No CASE? YOU FOOOLLLLLL

I worked this up manually, without HMA, and don't recall which of the thirty thousand reference books covers CASE on ASFs...
